**Daniel:**
I’m Daniel Comp. I’m the author and the curator of the Scotomaville series. You and I may have met. You may have signed my campaign flag—our tour flag—at your office. We visited dozens of veterans service locations and VA locations all around the country.

Oh my God… okay… oh my God… turn it over here. You got a small and a large sleeve size? I didn’t know that, right? They don’t know it either. So you ask a barista which one they go, “Oh, use any one,” and you’re like, “No, no, no.” But see, the problem is when I pull it out I’m like, “What the heck?”

Okay… they do offer a retreat. Unanimously we heard you needed a break—burnout, stress. Who cares for the providers? Our brains are tuned to protect our body. Our brain goes, “That sounds important—don’t the hell step on this thing, it will blow up on you.”

A retreat. A getaway. A Base Camp. A summit. That’s what everyone asks for. Guess what? We’ve got one. Exactly. That’s uh… General Patton right—with a big heart. Well, mine you’ll understand this now: Achiever, Learner, Input, Belief, Activator.

I’m really excited to invite you to get away for a few days, to come understand what self-reflection video modeling is, how it can help you understand why we do what we do, and provide you with not just new insights but ways of coping with your own levels of stress, with the ability to modify your response and your reactions to what’s troubling you.

We’ve got a fabulous location right here in the Columbia Gorge along with Mount Hood. We’ve got Post Canyon mountain biking—you might want to just grab a map and head your ass off into the woods, but I’ll give you a little bit of a heads-up: you won’t have as much fun. It’s better to focus on the ride and the trail than “Where is the next turn? Where is the next crest?” Just follow the guards. You know, all kinds of outdoor water sports on the river or foiling of all kinds, hiking, and a location that’s really fabulous. We’ve got great sleep, have some excellent food, meet some of the other providers.

Training series done. The videos are done. The book is done. We’ve now launched the classes here at the Army National Guard location in The Dalles. We’d like you to really consider taking care of yourself. Come for a few days. This is a fabulous summit—a retreat—no colloid number one in Hawaiian proper.

So click through to the links, have a look at some of the dates, contact us, and let Angelina and I know that you’re interested in being a part of it this year. And let’s explore some possibilities of helping you get the heck out of Scotomaville.

**File:** SCOTOMAVILLE 03.00 - Veteran Service Provider Retreat Invitation.md
**Monomyth Stage:** 06 - Tests, Allies, Enemies
**Gameboard:** Camp 2: Tests, Allies, Enemies
**MA5 Domain:** Initium
**Summary:** Daniel extends a warm, personal invitation to burned-out veteran service providers and NGO leaders for a 4-day/5-night Base Camp retreat in the Columbia River Gorge, blending Scotomaville self-reflection with immersive outdoor challenges.
**Key Insight:** Caregivers must first receive care themselves—through physical experiences, peer connection, and deliberate self-reflection—before they can sustainably continue pouring into others.
**Narrative Significance:** This short advances the “Tests, Allies, Enemies” phase by turning the abstract call for community into a concrete, geographically anchored gathering of allies, completing the loop from the earlier Mesa Summit invitation and operationalizing the Good Grief Tour into lived Initium practice.
