summary: "At Cedar Breaks Park, Daniel Comp demonstrates his daily plant-based breakfast shake ritual — a complete meal replacement built around Garden of Life Raw Meal, chia seeds, toasted coconut, turmeric, almond butter, salt, cinnamon, fresh ginger, banana, pineapple, papaya, and mango, blended with water in a NutriBullet. He shares how this habit, heavily influenced by the Seventh-Day Adventist plant-based diet and his eight years working directly with The Galloping Gourmet (Graham Kerr), has helped him maintain high-school weight, avoid most medical care for decades, and support microbiome health and mental clarity. Daniel also mentions complementary daily supplements and consistent exercise while inviting men to experiment with the ritual for belly-fat reduction and gut happiness."

### Original YouTube Description
Daniel comp shares his typical breakfast shake ingredients and preparation for your consideration to lose that belly fat and microbiome unhappiness. "My appreciation for this meal is completely biased from The Seventh-Day Adventist plant-based diet recommendation. My escaping the healthcare system and medicine might be genetics and habits but it might also be a good diet and ritual to consider for longevity." You can also consider a gut check with Viome (see the links) [http://360MEN.net](https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbWpqRl96eFZhc0M4ZE85a0s3WFlELXVnbVlSQXxBQ3Jtc0tuWTBwVUxSVEd1X2FtUXlhT2hGMkdReEZFTVJpQlVxWjFLX1hHZ01SR3dQb1o2aXV5UXowaXNoelg1X05PVzg2RlR1QTBxaGt6SExfOV84RjBtWnIxbW0tOU1taVJ6OTI3d1ZpN2hTZ281eGVOaUFJMA&q=http%3A%2F%2F360men.net%2F&v=aJ07tKAFSiU) [https://viome.com](https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbFo4SmdkaFhJQWo1dmNrN2FVZVAxNWJmbzhSUXxBQ3Jtc0ttVVAzN2Z5N1VNdmhVU1V5MWVPMk1vR09aQ25Kc01WT2xvaGNNQ09HX3M3Z1FPOHVndnBWT1RzaVhXd0RabW4zSkN2N3g1R1FOZjFyaEtTQnRFRVpuVWkweUhjQUQ4d2pwb2NHekdWclZmT0lQdmVKSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fviome.com%2F&v=aJ07tKAFSiU) [http://grahamkerr.com](https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbFdnQlo3X0xieVNfWFhMS2NPZi1nZkZuVGNTd3xBQ3Jtc0tsTFhZakZyMzVxVG1QbTRNSHVJT2RndVQxVE1FZmFKNVRRYlZxU2VteEZ1bUtZSmJsemNQLWxtVnZOS25YeWItQ20zWUNXcjZQLXJBLV82RjVQTGRCX0VsR1daVml4R2FWWnpvc2w0ZVBFUENNQ2dSQQ&q=http%3A%2F%2Fgrahamkerr.com%2F&v=aJ07tKAFSiU)

**Daniel:**
Hey, let’s talk about our guts. You know that gassy, bloaty, uncomfortable feeling? Or even that thing around your belly — right, that inner tube of tire of fat?

I grew up in a fairly modest income home with two working parents. During summer vacations I would be responsible for babysitting my much younger brother and stepbrother and stepsister. During that time I had to cook food and meals, and my parents would come home and expect food to be done. So I ended up watching The Galloping Gourmet on TV. Millions of people watched him from all around the world. And fate had it that many years later I was fortunate to be able to work with him for almost eight years — worked right-hand to him.

During that process I learned to explore food and appreciate food, appreciate all the combinations and possibilities that you could do with simple ingredients. And I was introduced to the Seventh-Day Adventists — mostly vegetable or plant-based diet. And that’s been a part of what I’ve raised my kids with and how I’ve been able to avoid medical attention, aside from a fall off a glacier (which we’ll talk about later) and a kidney stone from too much cycling and not enough water.

I haven’t been to a physician pretty much my entire life. And now there’s some really cool applications coming out like Viome. You can get your gut checked — your microbiome — all the billions of cells that talk to your brain and give you an intuitive sense of what’s right and wrong. You follow your gut, you’ve heard — well, here’s a ritual that I have that I’ve modified my diet to include.

It starts with this product. It’s not a paid placement. I just have found that this is really a great product: Garden of Life. It’s a raw meal replacement — mainly because that’s what it is. It’s just a ton of sprouted different vegetable or plant-based things. They’re sprouts from it that are included in this. And I’m going to make my shake for you that I do each morning so you can consider what you might do as a breakfast meal replacement instead of just having eggs and bacon or oatmeal and a glass of orange juice. Give this a try and you may like it. You may find that it likes you and all those things in your gut go “hey” and can help you shed off some of that belly fat that hangs around.

All right, here’s the shake. I start with a full scoop of this. And it’s not a protein powder — it’s actually just a complete meal replacement.

I put maybe a tablespoon of chia seed. I like toasted coconut — some unsweetened. Trickiest: don’t buy the sweet stuff. It’s got way too much sugar. So some — a little bit of turmeric, because turmeric is good for your gut in a bunch of ways, and that’s already in that, but I like this combo.

I’ll put some ground almond butter just because the fats in this — oils and fats — tend to make it a little thicker. I do a little pinch of salt, mainly because that just spikes up the flavor a little bit. Not much salt — depends on your diet.

Cinnamon — about a teaspoon.

And then I’ll do fresh ginger, which I’m gonna peel this and we’ll put banana in here.

The ginger — it’s got a lot of fiber in it, so I like to cut this because the little hairs get caught in the blender. Then I’ll do a complete bunch of pineapple, papaya, and some mango. And that’s the basis, along with some water.

I use a NutriBullet. Cut up the ginger — you’ll see it forms little clumps, they get caught on the blade. All right, they get caught on this and then it vibrates. But if you cut it up, it doesn’t do that.

That little mixture of the shake I have for at least 30 years, added sort of a complement of ginkgo and omega-3 oils, glucosamine, vitamin D, St. John’s wort — things like that — milk thistle, a bunch of different little herbs and things that I’ve done. I take these throughout the day with meals and whatnot.

And that, plus an hour to three hours of exercise every other day, and I still weigh what I weighed in high school. I feel great. I don’t have any medications other than this self-inflicted half hour every day that I spend on it. And I believe it’s added to my perseverance and to my state of mind and the other things that I’ve been able to achieve. I’ve been a result of it.

So it’s my recommendation. That’s how I do it. Plus watching sugar a little bit — not much. I should, but… processor. All right, that’s it for today.

**Summary:** Daniel demonstrates his long-standing plant-based breakfast shake ritual at Cedar Breaks Park, crediting the Seventh-Day Adventist diet and his years with Graham Kerr for helping him maintain lifelong health, avoid most medical care, and support mental clarity through microbiome care.
**Key Insight:** A consistent, simple daily food ritual — built on whole-plant ingredients and mindful supplementation — can dramatically influence gut health, body composition, energy, and perseverance far more than most men realize.
**Narrative Significance:** This practical scene grounds the Call to Adventure in everyday self-care, showing that the masculine journey includes stewarding the body as the first vehicle for all larger expeditions — including the coming AI-augmented world and the wisdom-sharing work of 360MEN.
