summary: "The day after a hard windsurfing crash that bruised or cracked his ribs, Daniel endures a full day of Texas rain while moving the Airstream trailer (wrong spot chosen in the dark), dumping tanks, checking tires, and then making lunch — all while panting, wincing, and whining like a baby. He humorously demonstrates how every breath, bend, slurp, or spoon lift triggers searing pain, experiments with creative work-arounds (arm behind back, elbow on table, left-hand eating), and applies a compression band. The video celebrates the absurdity of “healing from play,” the absurdity of gender-equality arguments in miserable conditions, and the simple joy of sunshine after rain."
keypoints:
  - "Bruised/cracked ribs from windsurfing make every normal movement (breathing, bending, lifting, slurping soup) excruciating for days"
  - "Men still have to do the work — moving trailers in pouring rain, dumping tanks, cooking lunch — even while injured"
  - "Creative problem-solving emerges under duress: arm-behind-back technique, elbow-on-table hack, switching to left hand for eating"
  - "The same man who embraces adventurous play must also embrace the mundane consequences without expecting exemption"
  - "Perspective shift: miserable rain yesterday becomes beautiful 79° sunshine today — a reminder that circumstances always change and older men learn to savor the turnarounds"

### Original YouTube Description

Daniel Comp gets his pay-back from a fun day of windsurfing with a full day of Texas Rain and bruised ribs. And, he doesn't get off easy - he has to make lunch after moving Bambi and all his toys. Being a man doesn't mean you can't whine like a baby. It just means the baby has to get to work. Here's a humorous lesson about perseverance and a good laugh dealing with mortality and inevitable injury. Have you ever bruised or broken something and had to go straight back to work? **Daniel:**
Just finished wrapping up Bambi, giving it the poopy dump and enema and all that. Ready to go check the air pressure, double-checking everything and this is what Texas does. See ya. That’s Texas.

This is two days after that sweaty day in Corpus Christi Lake. We’re back at Canyon Lake and I’m outside enjoying the shade and the 79 degree weather while I’m editing this on my cell phone. And that’s because if you’ve watched the little series of videos that we’re doing, I am helping lead the way by figuring out how to do all of this — capturing the best stories of men on a cell phone, editing it all together simply, and pushing it across social media and adding it to the corpus for the future coming AI. So I’ll go back to editing.

This was yesterday… and what I had — it’ll explain enough in the story.

*[B-roll of windsurfing shot from a GoPro including the fall and crash]*

Not freaking nice.

We sir not shooting at me are you doing — what’s going on — Jesus on the cross. Oh what’s going on. I just finished moving the trailer. The bicycles though — it’s serving seven. I’ve got screwed up ribs from playing too hard, falling on my boom. All in the rain. Pouring rain in Texas. Yes I’m soaked but that’s — I don’t care about the rain or the cold. I can’t breathe guys. My ribs — desktop. So I’m panting.

Comfy? Yeah let me stick this thing under your nail and see how are you comfortable now. I can’t believe I get… oh your God it’s like always working. How could you get a fat gut if you got to breathe or move. Everything you do involves your ribcage and your guts. Ah dumbass. What did you do this for? Oh it’s fun.

Hey so get this thought. I asked — you know Angelina asked me “Can I come and help you?” Although I’m like no no no ‘cause I’ll make two of us wet and then well twice as much wet clothing to dry inside the Airstream. And so you might as well just stay inside, be warm. I’ll do it. I’m used to wearing a wet suit right? So okay. So I go and do this and then I’m back in here thinking who in the right mind would argue and fight and protest to have equal rights with men to go do this crap? What are you crazy? You get to stay inside, be warm. Or “Oh no we want to fight to come out and be in the miserable elements with you.” No you don’t want to. That’s up besides man.

Oh good is involved in every emotional experience you get. Why did I have to move the Airstream today in the rain? Because spot 19 is next to spot 21 but they look identical and in the dark when you’re not supposed to arrive you can’t see the little numbers. So I just set up in the wrong place. It was all wrong. Just goes to prove we’re half wrong at the time. No we’re completely wrong half the time it seemed worse.

Even get the cutting board up making sure her — yeah let’s just open a can here Mr. Wimp. Oh my god don’t — don’t twist. The twisting starts that can. You get a kid? Oh.

*[Laughter]*

Oh this is what — let’s all go camping. Oh I don’t think most people get to see what the men go through when they break a rib until it decides to just tighten up and you don’t have control. Watch this. It’s like you can’t move. Ben see — I can’t figure it out. It’s like some out-of-control piece of your body. Women know about that stuff.

Oh there’s a trick. You can pick things up with your arm. Oh you get — put your arm behind your back, breathe, and then you can bend over without triggering that muscle that’s twitchy. Okay arm behind the back, up and over and these muscles don’t get used. Weird.

Okay you saw me just open a can of chicken soup. I’m trying to redeem it by putting some extra chicken and vegetables in with that. You did a beautiful lunch in spite of your pain and I’m very proud of you. Yes. Ah thank you. I love you. I guess that’s gonna be in the final cut. Well look at how healthy you made it.

I’m not sure I can lift my spoon without triggering that muscle. Mmm okay that’s good. No I was worth it. Wow I’m being such a wimp but I can’t lift my spoon with my right arm because it triggers that muscle so now I have to learn to eat with my left arm. That’s fine but you can’t just — even that — lifting it up just like that. You just — my eyes are watering.

Can you believe that when you slurp your soup — your mama always tell you don’t slurp your soup — you don’t realize until you’re 63 that it’s because when you have broken ribs it’ll make it hurt.

Breaking the rule which is talking while you eat.

What is the rule? No elbows on the table. Yeah but guess what — if you have an elbow on the table you don’t have to use your gut muscles. There is something worth thinking about.

Oh what do you have that’s gonna help you now? Ah yeah triggers. I don’t know — some elastic sort of thing. Okay this is one of my bands here. Turn around. Go ahead and model it. Oh this is — it’s a compress. It’s a compression. I thought we were using it at — why? Wetsuit, lifejacket, harness was all crimp down on me. Didn’t I — didn’t I believe finished windsurfing for at least an hour, hour and a half after crashing? Wasn’t until 2:00 yesterday after anyway. Yeah so when you took it off that’s when you realize it. Yeah and it just like goes uh every once in a while. Yeah there’s a little seizure and we have one more to go from you — that’s right. Need to do one more. Okay.

So that’s enough whining but I’d like to sort of defend windsurfing a bit. That’s uh first time I’ve been injured in at least thirty years. I started in 86 or 87 and that’s the first time I’ve been wounded in all these years. So through safe sport.

The other thing to consider is look how beautiful the weather is today after how miserable it was yesterday and that sometimes is hard to do when you’re young. When you get older you tend to remember all those days that everything switches around on you. All the circumstances are different and you know the kiss aell goes through the money, building the bank and rich it yield new date falls and all this good things. So hopefully some of that whining will be instructive or at least humorous and that’s what this trip is all about.

Don’t forget to put a call to action at the end of your videos so click on the subscribe button. Come on over to 360MEN.net and ask me a question. Ask Dean, Gary Carter, ask Merlin Berg — any one of the guys would love to answer some of your questions and help you man up to that challenge without the whining you just watched. All right you.

**Monomyth Stage:** 06 - Tests, Allies, Enemies
**Gameboard:** Camp 2: Tests, Allies, Enemies
**MA5 Domain:** None
**Summary:** Still sore from the previous day’s windsurfing crash, Daniel moves the Airstream in pouring Texas rain, dumps tanks, then painfully prepares lunch — all while providing a running comedic commentary on the realities of “healing from play” and the absurdity of injured-man duties.
**Key Insight:** Being a man doesn’t exempt you from whining, but it does require you to keep working anyway; every breath, bend, and spoon lift becomes a classroom in perseverance, creative adaptation, and gratitude when the sun finally returns.
**Narrative Significance:** This humorous “pay-back” vignette immediately follows the celebration of play and completes the mini-arc of injury → consequence → laughter → perspective. It humanizes the 360MEN peloton by showing that the same men who chase personal Everests must also endure the mundane, painful, and ridiculous aftermath — all while still leading, creating content, and inviting others into the conversation.
