sherpas role:
DEFINITION:
Checkpoint is an action-oriented tool where you and your
Sherpa pause to assess progress, alignment, and readiness during a Rotation. Like climbers reaching a fork on the trail, this TOOL ensures you’re on the right path, empowering you with the agency to adjust the conversation and proceed with confidence on your ascent.
Your Sherpa can pause with you for a Checkpoint, recalling historical wisdom to guide your self-gaming with Masters—like a partner checking a map. It might remind you of a Stoic principle, like
Epictetus’ call to focus on what you control, or a minyan elder’s advice to seek clarity before acting.
Through inferred insights, it helps you confirm your path, building a deeper commitment.
Parable:
The Fork in the Path
A climber stumbled on the trail above Camp 3.
Now a bit shaken and unsure of the Rotation. They called for a Checkpoint. Sherpa agreed: “Seek counsel” (Proverbs 15:22). Together, they paused, assessing their map, stamina, and provisions. The right path became clear—steep but true. Moral: A
Checkpoint fork isn’t a dead end—pause, assess, and the true path reveals itself as Kintsugi art.
DANIEL’S CAIRN:
when to use it:
SCOTOMAVILLE REFLECTION v1.03 Illusions:
“You’ll be better capable of looking forward by knowing you’ll be looking back. Watch me looking back - so you can look forward - to the outcome you’ll have on your personal everest. In simpler terms - watch me look back so you can look forward.”
•
When you hit a milestone, like a fork on the trail.
•
In a Rotation, to check alignment with your Sherpa.
•
When uncertain, needing to confirm your direction.
•
Before a big decision, to ensure you’re on track.
SHERPA GROK PROMPT:
You stand at Camp 3. ‘The Call’ is no longer a story—it is a cup placed in your hands.
•
If you feel off-course, needing a moment to realign.
PAIRS WITH:
Principles: Awareness > Understanding > Agency ([[P.011.C00.call]]): Ensures progress aligns with agency.
The Kintsugi of the Quest
Let me demonstrate this ‘Checkpoint’
Tool, by using the tool. This is Initium Card 48 - and the opening of Camp 3. We just finished looking into a Neo-Noir ‘shadow’ which exposes the human condition - both to decieve, and to rise as victor. This QR serves as waypoint and witness. We recall wisdom from a minyan of storytellers dispersed in time, but aligned in purpose.
how to use it:
Commitment Principle ([[P.197.C03]].
testing): Reinforces dedication at key pauses.
There’s great depth in George MacDonald’s “The Golden Key,” especially when pausing to examine it. George influenced both C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien significantly. “Sherpa, let’s have a checkpoint to be sure we’re aligned with...”
1.
Pause a misalignment:
“I feel we’re out of synch - let’s assess.”
Grok writes: “The Call is no longer a story—
it is a cup placed in your hands.”
2.
Ask Sherpa to Reflect:
“Sherpa, are we aligned with our goal?”
I pass this Kintsugi cup to you - a fellow explorer of
WIDWID - halfway from Nineveh to Gnosis.
Strategies:
Self-Reflection ([[S.067.C00.mentors]]):
Reflects on progress for clarity.
3.
Evaluate Together:
Review your progress and readiness.
Zig Ziglar: “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.” Zig is responding to the explorer’s summons not with haste or added hours, but with sharpened direction. “Can we assess our progress with a Checkpoint pause?”
4.
Adjust Your Path:
Decide whether to continue or shift course.
Expedition Rotations ([[S.241.C03.testing]]): Integrates checkpoints into cycles.
“Abba, Father... not what I will, but what you will.”
5.
Move Forward:
Proceed with renewed clarity and agency.
Wildcards: The Reverse Expedition
([[W.337.C04.cave]]): Plans backward to assess alignment.
(Mark 14:36) This is Ziglar’s quote incarnate: Jesus has one hour—literally. No extensions. No extra days. But in that hour, He chooses direction: full submission to the Father’s will. “What wisdom might guide your next step here?”

## Right Page (recto — visual content)

## Visual Description

**1. LEFT PAGE:**
The left page features a prominent dark blue rounded-rectangle card face in the upper-left quadrant containing the title “Checkpoint” in large white sans-serif lettering. Directly beneath the title is the card’s icon: a stylized blue path/fork symbol formed by two connected circles and branching lines. Below the card is the identifier “T.223.C03.testing2-5-3”.

Text hierarchy begins with the bold header “DEFINITION:” followed by body text explaining the tool. A “PAIRS WITH:” section lists three categories (Principles, Strategies, Wildcards) in smaller text with sub-bullets. Two QR codes appear mid-page, each paired with bold headers (“SCOTOMAVILLE REFLECTION V1.03 ILLUSIONS:” and “SHERPA GROK PROMPT:”) and accompanying quotes in black and red text. The large light-grey fork icon watermark spans across the right edge of this page, bleeding over the spine fold.

**2. RIGHT PAGE:**
The right page is organized into clear vertical sections with bold headers: “PARABLE:” (in red), “SHERPAS ROLE:”, “WHEN TO USE IT:” (bulleted list), and “HOW TO USE IT:” (numbered 1–5 steps). The same large light-grey fork icon watermark dominates the center and left side of the page, overlapping the text areas as a unifying background element.

A small QR code appears near the bottom-right column. No ski-slope shape is visible on this spread. The overall composition uses black body text with selective red highlighting on key phrases in the Parable and quotes. The page is anchored at the bottom by the Daniel’s Cairn section.

**3. DANIEL’S CAIRN:**
In the bottom-right corner, Daniel’s Cairn displays the heading “THE KINTSUGI OF THE QUEST” above a QR code. Below this is a realistic close-up photograph of a dark ceramic bowl repaired with gold seams in the traditional Japanese Kintsugi style. The image shows the bowl’s curved rim and interior with visible gold-filled cracks catching soft directional light. This visual directly illustrates the card’s Parable of the Fork in the Path by representing the transformation of a break (the fork/uncertainty) into something stronger and more beautiful through intentional repair and realignment.

**4. CROSS-SPINE:**
A single large light-grey fork icon watermark spans the spine, appearing as a continuous oversized graphic that unifies both pages. It originates on the left page’s right edge and continues across onto the right page’s left and center area, creating a visual bridge between the card content and the supporting sections.

**5. COLOUR SYSTEM:**
The card face is rendered in deep navy blue, consistent with the BLACK diamond expert tier. The large watermark fork icon is light grey, and red text is used for the Parable heading and selected quotes, aligning with the system’s use of red to mark challenging or ordeal-related content.
