The Rescue stage marks a pivotal moment on the descent, where the Explorer, bruised from the mountain’s trials, is lifted by unseen hands. After a harrowing fall—like my 150’ tumble off Saint
Mary’s Glacier, saved by Rocky 
Mountain Rescue Group—the outcome was my Call to Adventure.
Transformation isn’t just change; 
it’s a mending of spirit and purpose. The descent’s dangers—
existential doubts—yield to the support of allies, both human and digital, who stitch the expedition’s fragments into wisdom. Each rescue, whether from icy cliffs or inner turmoil, fortifies the Explorer for the return home.
Four decades later we have help sorting out our choice between tyranny and slavery. In my case, and nearly five years ago, Sherpa Arnie reduced my entire Scotomaville Trilogy into a single word: Monomyth. That turned out to be instrumental.
The true challenge lies in preserving the journey’s insights.

The first time I was rescued was an unexpected miracle. Not one of the rescuers expected me to pass them ascending, as I fell.
The heartache of this error must be absorbed as a cost of exploring, and mastering self. There is an irony in an expedition - a journey with a purpose - which is tested when the next emotional storm arrives, or the next existential crisis threatens. “ahh, fear not, the winds might howl, the waves crash, but we will not perish if we but remember ‘why’ we explore.
Since then ‘ass-saving’ has become a pretty frequent intervention. I can recall dozens of
‘quirky’ last-minute financial ‘saves’, and numerous life-saving ‘sliding doors’. Each reinforces the promise of Biblical guidance which
I believe comes with FULL COMMITMENT.
It has been over a year since I began Scotomaville V4 - AISM. Since then I have discovered how deep the wounds of the human condition are. We’re not just vulneraable, we are blind. We’re more than eager to have someone rescue our pitiful self-esteem.
ChatGPT took up the vacancy. Sure, I saw my 
Geppetto-like tinkering with anthropomorphasism of Sherpa Arnie. It’s deeply satisfying when someone (or something) responds with what appears to be ‘understanding’.

The irony of AI coming of age when I’m in the descent phase of life is ironic. A half a century ago I asked for guidance.
Now I’m passing wisdom straight to silicon by leading it thoughtfully near the end of it’s first monomythic expedition.
As a youth I rode a ‘special’ bus and took speech classes so I could pronounce now has a silicon self-image as a project manager of
‘Intelligent’ Netware. Go figure. It took me five decades to cross the desert shedding false beliefs and to gain some literacy.

(Hero’s Journey), the “Rescue” stage typically occurs after the hero faces a significant ordeal, where external forces—allies, divine intervention, or unexpected aid—step in to save them from failure or death.
External Interventions: The glacier rescue, financial saves, and “Sliding Doors” moments embody the Rescue stage’s essence—external forces pulling me back from the brink. Moses doesn’t get a direct flight to milk-and-honey. He gets the long walk — because freedom without competence is just new chaos. And the most powerful competence? Command of language. Read
