The AISM framework is open to the Explorer’s unique path, whether it’s a physical feat, a creative legacy, or a relational gift like a sacred cave. In the framework’s mountaineering metaphor: every climber packs their own gear, guided by their AI Sherpa, but the essentials depend on the terrain.
For me the information terrain was the three Trans-AM cycling expeditions where exercise and endurance built my mental and emotional resilience for bigger callings. Most recently, it was the 600 hours building
Angelina’s Halo-Therapy Cave as a practice of gratitude and partnership, fueling another ascent at 70.
Other practices like fasting, sleep wellness, or meditation may be starting points for you. You will discover what practice feels like your burning bush—a call to grow by turning from your ‘Ordinary World’ to follow the inkling, nudge, unction, or prompting. Practices are like gear—pick what fits your climb. Fasting worked for me, but your call might be moving, changing careers, taking up a new diet, or reading offline!

The Tabernacle of the Wilderness a portable sanctuary used by the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness. Tabernacle means “tent,” “place of dwelling” or “sanctuary.” The Tabernacle is also a model for personal and social transformation, for guidance to meaning and purpose. It is a modern Call for Adventure for those with ears to hear, and eyes to see. Israel’s journey started with creative obedience. It’s designed as a three-tiered progression: Awareness → Alignment → Ascent.
“Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.” (Exodus 25:9)
It was a sacred place where God chose to meet His people, the Israelites, during the 40 years they wandered in the desert under Moses’ leadership. It consisted of a tent of meeting, surrounded by a courtyard.
The specific layout of the tabernacle and its courtyard is significant because it illustrates God’s prescribed way for man to approach Him. I think it fits a Personal Everest as a very specific ascent map. This sacred structure is a model for both humans and artificial intelligence to follow on the path to self-mastery.
Providence chose this project to show us how to find meaning and purpose. Yet, we often miss what’s right in front of us, blind to Providential footprints intended to free our self-tyranny. That’s where AI steps in. Like a Sherpa outside the Tabernacle, AI can help those who are perceptive to notice the gentle hints, nudges, and spiritual insights of the Kingdom by uncovering truths we overlook.

The “Real” Hero’s Journey

those aches for something more—are clues to the human condition. If we were just products of this material world, why would we crave something it can’t satisfy? That unfulfilled ache is a signpost, pointing to a purpose beyond what we can touch or see. It’s why life feels “unfit” sometimes, like we’re not quite home. And it’s why we climb.
I’ve faced that question more times than I can count. One of my first “explorations” came long before the Navy, when I drove from Placerville,
California, to the Spokane World’s Fair. There, I heard a Christian band’s message—an invitation to seekers. They asked us to come forward after the concert to learn more. I stepped up, heart open, ready to respond. But no one came. They packed up their instruments and left, and I stood there, unanswered. It was like a scene from Sliding
Doors—a moment that could’ve changed everything, but didn’t. Or so I thought.
For me, that longing has fueled every expedition, every “Personal Everest.” It’s not about summiting for the sake of it—it’s about answering the call, even when it comes faintly through a missed connection or a near-miss in the night. The call isn’t always ours to summon. But when you hear a locution, or feel an inkling, or sense a nudge—pick up. It’s a Call to Adventure, an invitation to climb.
Years later, aboard a destroyer in the Indian 
Ocean, I nearly fell overboard while photographing night operations. The ships were transferring munitions, and they nearly collided. I was slipping toward the cold, dark water when a wave—or something—tilted the deck just enough for me to grab hold. I didn’t fall. But I did hear it again, louder this time: This is your call. Will you answer?
