# Thread 100 — Notepad++ Markdown Italics Styling

## Summary

A two-act thread. The technical problem is minor; the relational exchange that follows is significant.

**Act 1 — Technical fix.** Daniel's Notepad++ user-defined markdown style was coloring only the first word of an italicized string. Claude identified the problem immediately: the `*` character was set with **Prefix mode checked** in the Keywords List group.
