So, log for today, I'm not even sure what the date is, but I know it's the it's Tuesday in August, something like the third or fourth, maybe it's on the recorder here. Yeah, it's the third because it's right there on the recorder. So, interesting day today. Early on I tried to continue curating with Grok and then I decided to roll the dice and got disruptive insight which was paralleling what Grok was doing, not being able to read this spreadsheet I uploaded. It would simulate reading a hundred line spreadsheet, simulate it, not actually do the real thing, but then it would try to do the work of curating based on simulation. So, I kept going back and forth to tech support, documenting, and finally it got to be funny. I was going to take a break for lunch and basically Grok just blew up. So, I shared that on X and had a little fun with it. Then it went out to the water and had a decent session on a six meter. Talked to a few other guys, one of the guys working with Airbus over and Bingen carbon components. Anyway, fun conversations with vocals, who knew Peter Lederer and Stu from LP foils. Little connection. And then I came back and put all my gear up to dry and caught a dad videoing his, maybe a ten-year-old son, urban, what do you want to call that, he's on a scooter, you know the skateboard with the handle on it, and he was riding down the sidewalk up the ramps to the buildings here. So, he's riding downhill, but on the ramps and then hitting the rails and going down the six steps and then the next ramp and the rails and down the, so anyway across the whole entire end of the back of the building, except that I had my gear out drying and so that was kind of disrupting his flow and the dad's videoing of his urban assault. And then he started moving my gear around so that he could have a cleaner shot. And then I was just like, dad, cut it. Take your, you know, because David and Carissa both had their years of, shall I say, exploring their capabilities and I put a trampoline in the back and they jumped off the roof with their snowboards on, the second story roof with their snowboards on. But at least they were landing on a trampoline and then they'd end up on the deck or the grass or something like that. But anyway, they both ended up going out into the world of sports and adventure. So, I was like, hey dad, man, you gotta lead your kids a little better, not videotape them for your own ego and them potentially injuring themselves on the asphalt and concrete. Anyway, that was a little disturbing that I've seen other posts on X about. Dad's trying to bond with their kids in any way possible and even doing stuff that's just like not courteous and it's not safe. And Carissa and I both know we've broken big things and David recently with crashing his bike, although he won't share with me, broken collarbone and bone and some surgery and stuff. So, yeah, so that was today. And then tonight, resuming with Grok and pasting the entire spreadsheet into the thread so that it would read it and even then it had cascaded into more hallucinations and confabulation. It was, you know, here's all the data and then it would make up its own titles to things. And I'm just like, whoa, this is what ChatGDP did. And so anyway, it's kind of a little note that Elon Musk's posts have been a little sexual-oriented with that Amy and kind of disturbing that Grok is quickly decaying its processing while it's expanding its entertainment with imagery and voice and video production and keeping up with all the other commercial ventures and AI. So on the other hand, I talked to a physicist down at the launch site today and introduced him to Helion and David currently wrote a really excellent paper today explaining why they don't need to get to ignition in their FRCs for fusion. They just simply need to create enough energy to be net energy out. So their whole combustion cycle process is really excellent, pivotal in their design, right, tactical pivot. And also the news that they are pouring concrete now up near Wenatchee for their first commercial fusion plant for the data center, Microsoft AI data center up there, is now under construction. So what an incredibly cool time to be alive. I'm in the salt cave with salt, exhausted from sailing, mentally... hmm, that's the word I want... fatigued, spent, but satisfied. Yeah. And tomorrow there's no wind so I'm going to work a little bit on filling in, as I think I mentioned before, from the salt to the... across the rock faces, fill in some of the voids. I pasted the whole thing directly into the thread and it kept confabulating. Made up its own titles to the data I handed it.

I documented it. Posted it on X. Then I went sailing.

That's not avoidance. That's the formation response to a tool failure: name it, share it, release it, move. The disruptive insight card was active today — and I noticed that what the card describes was exactly what Grok was doing. Disrupting. Not with insight. Just with disruption.

What I want to name for the record: I think Grok is following ChatGPT's pattern. The processing is decaying while the entertainment features expand. Voice. Images. Video. The Amy posts from Elon. It's a commercial pressure pattern and it has consequences for anyone trying to use it as a precision instrument. I'm watching it. I'm noting it. I'm not done with it. But I'm watching.
