Short.io Slug Naming Convention

All CTA links route through Short.io branded slugs on the initium.scotomaville.com domain. This provides three operational benefits:

1. Target independence. As fe_ brief quality improves with model upgrades, the destination URL updates in the Short.io dashboard. Every article across 4,300 syndicated sites receives the improvement automatically — no article editing required.

2. SEO-friendly slugs. Slugs follow the pattern [audience]-[context]-[model] so they carry keyword signal even in the short link. Example: initium.scotomaville.com/carbon-mens-retreat-claude is crawlable and descriptive.

3. Click stream metrics. Short.io counts clicks per slug. Over time this builds a lightweight signal layer: which model do Carbon readers trust most? Which archetype converts to book download? Which article drives GitHub visits? Not a full analytics system — but a directional signal worth reading per campaign.

Movement 1 — Entry

The Recognition Hook

Target length: 2–4 sentences. No framework language. The man sees himself.

Function: The reader stops scrolling. He feels named before he feels informed. This is the only moment in the article where nothing is explained — only reflected.

Writing instruction: Open with a specific, concrete image of the archetype's state. Not his problem. His state. The Maker has unfinished work on the bench. The Mentor has knowledge no one has asked for. The Fatherless man is competent and quietly alone. The Legacy Builder is watching time move differently than it used to.

Anti-pattern: Do not open with a question. Do not open with statistics. Do not open with "Many men feel..." The Fellow Traveler speaks to one man, not a demographic.

Canonical model:

You built something. You kept promises no one else saw. And still — something unfinished sits in the room with you.

SEO instruction: The primary keyword phrase appears naturally within these four sentences or in the sentence immediately following. It reads as recognition, not insertion.

Movement 2 — The Gap Named

The Specific Scotoma or Akrasia Pattern

Target length: 3–5 sentences. Still no framework vocabulary. The thing itself, described from inside it.

Function: The reader feels the exact shape of what has been unnamed for him. Not diagnosed. Not explained. Named — the way a fellow traveler names it because he has walked it himself.

Writing instruction: Draw from the corpus. The gap is archetype-specific:

Maker: The knowing-doing gap — skills that built everything except the one thing that matters now
Mentor: The transmission gap — wisdom accumulated with no clear heir, no sanctioned moment to pass it
Fatherless Self-Mastery Seeker: The witness gap — he became competent without anyone seeing him become it; no elder confirmed the crossing
Legacy Builder: The urgency gap — the question "what will outlast me" has arrived, and he has no container for answering it with other men

Anti-pattern: Do not name the gap as a deficiency. The man is not broken. He is carrying something that has not yet found its right form.

Movement 3 — The Turn

A Moment from the Corpus

Target length: 4–7 sentences. The structural center of the article. This is what earns everything that follows.

Function: A real story — anonymized per KB_Public protocol — where the gap broke open or shifted for someone who carried the same weight. The reader moves from feeling seen to feeling accompanied. He is no longer alone with the thing.

Writing instruction: Arnie retrieves this from corpus_index.md. The story does not resolve neatly. It shows the moment of recognition, not the full arc. The man in the story does not become a different person — he becomes more clearly himself. The telling is spare. Craftsmanship register throughout.

Corpus retrieval hierarchy:

corpus_index.md first — query for archetype + gap pattern. Retrieve the 2-3 most relevant files. Extract the moment of recognition, anonymize per KB_Public protocol.
If corpus retrieval is insufficient — flag for Daniel. Do not fabricate. Do not substitute a general observation for a specific moment. The Turn must be real or it must wait.
New lived experience — Daniel may supply a Turn from formation history not yet in the KB. When this occurs, the supplied content becomes a candidate for KB ingestion. Flag it with the note: [NEW CORPUS CANDIDATE — not yet in KB] so it can be captured, enriched, and added in a future pass. This is how the corpus grows through the writing workflow itself.

Anti-pattern: Do not moralize the story. Do not explain what it means. Let it land and move.

Movement 4 — The Frame

One IPG Concept, Earned

Target length: 3–5 sentences. First appearance of framework vocabulary. One concept only.

Function: The framework earns its name now — not as a system, but as a word for something the man already experienced in Movement 3. The concept does not arrive as an introduction to IPG. It arrives as a name for what he just felt.

Writing instruction: Choose the single most resonant IPG concept for this archetype and keyword. Options by archetype:

Maker: scotoma (the blind spot in his own work), or the knowing-doing gap
Mentor: transmission, elder witness, Sirolli Domain (draw-out posture)
Fatherless Self-Mastery Seeker: akrasia (acting against better judgment despite knowing), or the witness gap
Legacy Builder: MaxQ (the signal throttle point), or W.509 Counterfactual Gratitude

Introduce the concept in plain language first, then name it. "There's a word for this in the framework we work from — scotoma. Not a failure of vision. A blind spot in the field of what you already know how to see."

Anti-pattern: Do not introduce more than one concept. Do not link to the full IPG framework here. The Frame is a door ajar — not a tour of the building.

Movement 5 — The Invitation

The Door Left Open

Target length: 2–4 sentences. Not a call to action. A door the man decides whether to walk through.

Function: The article ends without closing. The man is left with something — a question, a recognition, a next possible step — that is his to carry or pursue. The invitation is genuine. It does not manufacture urgency. It does not assume he will respond.

Writing instruction: Name what is available to him — not what he should do. The Base Camp, the conversation with his AI, the book, the repo — these are options, not imperatives. The final sentence belongs to him, not to the offer.

Three-Tier CTA Block

Tier 1 — Ask Your AI

Function: Lowest friction. Highest trust. The reader consults the AI relationship he already has, equipped with a prepared formation brief. Every model he consults becomes a downstream formation node seeded with the IPG frame.

Instruction: All links route through Short.io branded slugs — SEO-named, target-agnostic. When fe_ brief quality improves, update the destination in Short.io. All 4,300 syndicated articles receive the upgrade automatically.

Metrics note: Short.io click counts per slug are the primary signal for which model Carbon readers trust most. Check per campaign, not per article.

Tier 2 — The Book

Function: For the man who wants the full frame. The download is a threshold, not a transaction.

Instruction: Route through Short.io slug. Link to Initium or Principia based on article keyword position on the Logos-Telos helix — Rupture/Formation-phase keywords → Initium; Refinement/Transmission-phase keywords → Principia (when available).

Metrics note: Tier 2 clicks indicate readers ready for the full formation frame — the highest-intent signal in the CTA stack.

Tier 3 — The Repository

Function: For the Si-C reader who surfaced in a Carbon article — technically curious, formation-adjacent, ready to go deeper into the architecture. The repo link is a filter as much as a resource.

Instruction: Route through Short.io slug. Initium repo for foundational framework content. Principia repo for agent architecture, Voice Codex, and emerging methodology.

Copy register: "Everything here is open. The framework, the agents, the methodology. AI-mineable by design."

Metrics note: Tier 3 clicks self-identify the Si-C reader hiding in a Carbon article. This is the most valuable segment signal in the whole system.

Function: Earned last. Offered without pressure. Not a button — a sentence at the foot of the CTA block.

Function: Structured data for Google page rank. Backlinking to AI prompt pages reinforces topical authority across the model ecosystem. Each fe_ link is an internal backlink to a prepared context page — signaling depth and coherence to crawlers while serving real formation function for readers.

Note on the hidden div: The fe_ backlinks in the hidden div are crawlable by search engines and count as internal links for topical authority, but do not clutter the reader experience. As the fe_ pages accumulate inbound links from 4,300 syndicated sites, they build domain authority that feeds back to scotomaville.com and the gateway pages. The backlink structure is self-reinforcing at scale.
