Come cycle a day, a week or a month - 5000 miles from Blaine, WA to South Padre Island, TX, and then to Bar Harbor, MN. The purpose of the expedition is to promote the Enterprising Cycle, an entrepreneurship system and job creation program for veterans and enterprising men.

Cleaned Transcript

Daniel: Hi, I’m Daniel Comp, founder of MENtrepreneurs and author of The Enterprising Cycle.

Angelina Musik: Hi, I’m Angelina Musik, founder of MONtrepreneurs and also author of The Enterprising Cycle. And we are at the starting point of the 2011 Trans-America Expedition. We are uh in Blaine, Washington, which is overlooking the Canadian Vancouver border, to invite you on this year’s expedition.

Daniel: First let me explain: an expedition is a journey with a purpose and a destination. So let’s talk about those three things. What’s the purpose of this expedition in your mind?

Angelina Musik: In my mind the purpose of this expedition is to bring awareness to microenterprises, personal enterprises, small business owners — that they play a great role in creating jobs in America. 71% of all the businesses in America are solopreneurs. They are personal enterprises — that is a man or a woman working by themselves with no employees, often struggling to do all three pieces of business: marketing, finance, and production. And the purpose for the trip for me is to help America understand that if we want to create jobs, if we want to change the economy, then we need to help the entrepreneurs. And that begins with the thinking that we have inside of our heads.

Angelina Musik: Part of what we’ll also be doing on the same route is moving forward with the Entrepreneurs movie in which women will be able to share their interesting adventures as women in business.

Daniel: A purpose with a destination. Now the destination halfway will be South Padre Island first week in August. That’s 1.25 million cranks on a bicycle or 2,500 miles from here — as far south as you can go in Texas, the Mexican border. That’s the halfway point. And then we turn from there, go up north to Maine by early October, and that finishes 5,000 miles across the United States and 25 million rotations on the bicycle crank.

Angelina Musik: What’s really great is that you can join us for any stint of the ride — whether it’s for a day, whether it’s for a weekend or a week or a month. It’s really up to you. So we’re inviting you to participate as men in business to champion in your challenges, to share about them with other men in business, while I get the interesting stories of the women in business along the way.

Daniel: It’s a ride for a change. If you are up for something to be different, if you want to figure out what your purpose is, if you’d like to see a transformation in your personal life and in your business, then this is a ride for you. As she said, a day, a week, a month. I want you to go through the curriculum in any case. MENtrepreneurs — it’s 15 hours of mentoring and training for the first two chapters. And if you ride, you and I will talk personally about how those two topics of awareness and personal transformation affect your business, your life, and your community.

Angelina Musik: Now the towns that we’ll be going through are mapped out on rideforachange.com as well as entrepreneur.com and monentrepreneur.com. So part of our opportunity is to stop and speak in your town, to offer insights, to share our experiences, as well as learn from yours. So you’re — we’re available to talk at your chamber, at your organization, at your community college or university. All you need to do is contact us at rideforachange.com.

Daniel: The curriculum that we’ll be presenting is the Enterprising Cycle. It is absolutely disruptive thinking for an entrepreneur. It’s transformational for their own thinking — as it was for our relationship.

Angelina Musik: That’s right. It’s also preparation for anyone wanting to become an entrepreneur or explore that option as a vocation in their life — to figure out why they’re passionate or why they’re skilled and great at doing what they love to do, and then how do we monetize that.

Daniel: So the challenge — 5,000 miles, even if it’s just 5 miles for one day for you — the transformation from one coast to the other is up here. We want to challenge you to ride for a change.

Angelina Musik: And wives, send your husbands to the MENtrepreneurs pedaling camp. Every time Daniel has gone he’s come back a little bit more grown up. So I encourage you to send your guys off for a day, a weekend. And fathers and sons — if the sons are over the age of 18 — we also encourage that transformation and that memory and opportunity as an experience for them.

Daniel: Turn your challenges into championships. Ride for a change. Turn your challenges into championships. Ride for a change. Join us at rideforachange.com to look forward to us coming to your town and for you participating in our ride to turn your challenges into championships. Ride for a change. Thank you.

CODEX ENTRY

Date: 2011-06-12 File: MENtrepreneurs Trans-America 5K3C Invitation Monomyth Stage: 02 - Call to Adventure Gameboard Position: Camp -3: The Call to Adventure MA5 Domain: Initium Summary: Daniel and Angelina stand at the Blaine, WA starting line and issue a bold public invitation to join the 5,000-mile MENtrepreneurs Trans-America Cycling Expedition to promote the Enterprising Cycle entrepreneurship system for veterans and enterprising men. Key Insight: Real economic and personal change begins with internal mindset shifts (awareness + transformation) rather than external fixes; the expedition was designed as a living classroom to turn challenges into championships through shared riding, mentoring, and storytelling. Narrative Significance: This early 2011 outreach video is the first recorded Call to Adventure in the Initium arc — a visionary attempt to gather men for a literal and metaphorical journey of purpose. In reality it was a complete bust: zero sign-ups, not one person joined. Daniel notes the commonly heard excuses (“wives wouldn’t let them” or “couldn’t trust them”) were not the real reason. The failure stands as a pivotal early lesson in the gap between ambitious vision and actual participation, setting the stage for the deeper self-understanding work that would later become Scotomaville.
