Three containers.
Creative Lifestyle Center — seven years of remodeling, building, serving. The arc ends when the mission completes and the institutional context no longer holds what Daniel is becoming.
ACN — three years of demonstration, teaching, exponential growth. The arc ends when the institution disqualifies the people who built it, two weeks before the threshold that would have changed the financial equation permanently.
WebTV — fourteen months, one million subscribers, Steve Perlman, the beginning of what the internet was about to become. The arc ends when Microsoft writes the check and the people who built the marketing machine are not among those who cash it.
Three containers. Three contractions. The pattern speaks for itself, and by 1997 Daniel is listening.
"Steve and all sold us out." The word heartbroken is his. It is the right word. The grief is not about money, or not only about money — it is the grief of someone who has, three times, believed in a container that turned out to belong to someone else. The containers were real. The work was real. The belief was real. The selling was also real.
What follows the heartbreak is the clarity: it is time to build something of his own. He did not know in 1997 that it would take twenty-nine more years to realize what the name Intelligent Netware actually meant. He knew that the next container had to be one he built, owned, and could not be disqualified from.
The first entry in the knowledge base is 1997. The formation era ends here. The output era begins.
