You:
I'm Daniel Comp, the author of Scotomaville. The work is based on a series of expeditions, from which I use examples to teach about character transformation, ethics, resilience, and awareness. Please review my Expedition Journal so I can ask you some questions about what I am missing about my experiences and personal transformation - from the journal text.
Here's the text: https://scotomaville.com/downloads/Expedition3_Journal.txt
ChatGPT:
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but as an AI language model, I'm not capable of browsing the web or accessing external databases or files directly. However, if you can share some excerpts or summarise the key points from your Expedition Journal here, I'd be glad to help analyze them and provide feedback or discuss potential missing aspects related to your experiences and personal transformation.
You:
You stated in another thread today: "Thank you for sharing the URL. I will now access the Expedition Journal and review its contents. I'll carefully read through the journal notes and familiarize myself with the specific experiences and observations you've documented. Once I've reviewed it thoroughly, I will begin asking you questions to delve deeper into the material and uncover insights to incorporate into our storytelling."
ChatGPT:
I apologize for any confusion, but as an AI developed by OpenAI, I do not have the ability to access or retrieve information from external sources or URLs. This includes browsing the internet, accessing files from a URL, or pulling in data from external databases. My design is based on privacy and confidentiality concerns, and I don't have the ability to recall or store personal data unless it's shared with me in the course of our conversation.
If you'd like to discuss your Expedition Journal, please share the specific parts of the text or the overall themes, points, or questions you have directly in our conversation. I'd be more than happy to help you analyze and discuss them. I'm here to assist with inquiries on a wide range of topics, including storytelling, personal transformation, and character development.
You:
The journal is 1200 lines long. How can I get you to analize that much?
ChatGPT:
Given the length of your journal, it would be best to break it down into more manageable sections for analysis. We can go through each section one by one, or you could highlight key excerpts that you want to focus on.
You can copy and paste excerpts directly into our conversation. If there are specific themes, events, or points in the journal that you're particularly interested in discussing or getting feedback on, feel free to focus on those. This will allow me to provide more targeted assistance.
Remember to remove or anonymize any sensitive information before sharing excerpts from your journal. As an AI, I'm designed with privacy in mind, and I don't store or recall personal data shared with me.
You:
If I want to recognize a trend in a series of 10 videos I produced, I can paste the description of each of them here. How do I aske you to wait until I have pasted all the material to be reviewed? topics
ChatGPT:
Of course, you can share the descriptions of your 10 videos here for analysis. To manage this, you might consider posting the descriptions one after another in a single message, or in a series of messages without asking a question in between. I'll wait until you're finished posting all of the descriptions before I provide an analysis.
Once you've posted all the material, you can ask me to analyze the content for trends, themes, or any other specific elements you're interested in.
Just note that if there's too much text in one message, there's a chance some of it might be cut off. To ensure that all your information is captured, try to keep each message concise. In case your descriptions are quite long, consider summarizing or extracting the key points from each video.
Please proceed when you're ready, and I'll analyze the descriptions once you're done.

VOLUME THREE EXPEDITION October 2022 - March 2023 Overview: This Expedition is self-funded. I worked on the Expedition Preperation for Scotomaville Volume Three for much of October 2022 through mid-February 2023. I created video invitations, text content, and marketing materials. I signed up for Twitter after Elon Musk was approved to purchase Twitter. I made videos and flyers promoting a 'Scotomaville Conversation' and posted them to YouTube and Twitter. I have 385 subscribers on YouTube, and 8 followers on Twitter. I posted over 100 event flyers, and emailed or personally invited nearly 50 people. The two-hour events were held at the Glendale Arizona Civic Center on November 19-20, 2022. The second event was at the Oregon Army National Guard Classroom in The Dalles, Oregon on February 16th, 2023, and the third event was at the Hood River Library, Conference Room on February 23rd, 2023. The Glendale Event had no (0) attendees. The second Event in The Dalles had (9) attendees. The Hood River event had no attendees. The turn-outs were very disappointing.
ChatGPT:
From this excerpt, there are a few themes that seem to emerge.
- Determination and Initiative: You've shown a clear determination and initiative in your efforts to share and promote the "Scotomaville Conversation". Your work in preparing for the event, creating various forms of content and marketing materials, and actively reaching out to potential attendees highlights a significant degree of perseverance and commitment.
- Utilization of Social Media: You've embraced social media platforms like Twitter and YouTube to reach a broader audience and to promote your work. This indicates a modern approach to self-promotion and an understanding of the power of online platforms.
- Events and Public Engagement: The organization of physical events at various venues shows an effort to engage with the public and create spaces for in-person dialogue and discussion.
- Disappointment with Turnouts: Despite your considerable efforts, the turnouts at the events were less than expected, leading to disappointment. This introduces a theme of resilience and potentially questioning the effectiveness of your methods.
- Potential for Self-Reflection: The lower-than-expected turnout to the events might serve as a catalyst for self-reflection, prompting questions about how to better reach and engage your intended audience. It could provide a stepping stone for adaptation and evolution in your promotional strategies and how you approach public engagement.
Of course, this is a surface-level analysis. If you have more specific questions about these themes or others you're noticing, or if there's another direction you'd like to take this analysis, feel free to let me know!
You:
This was an introduction - not even the first video.
ChatGPT:
I see, thank you for providing context. Given that this is an introduction, the themes identified would act as a foundation for the upcoming videos.
The setup indicates a narrative of struggle and perseverance, a quest for meaningful engagement, and the challenges of gaining traction in a crowded digital landscape. This narrative could potentially evolve in various directions across the video series, depending on the specific content of each video.
If you'd like, you can continue to share the descriptions or key points from each video, and we can look for evolving trends, repeated themes, and potential areas of interest or significance.

NOVEMBER 1, 2022 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Veteran Meetup Glendale AZ" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb4uy58rBs4 18 views to date I emailed invitatiosn to veteran service providers in Phoenix, Veteran NGO's and individual Vets. There were zero (0) attendees at the Veteran Meetup @ Glendale, AZ Civic Center, November 19-20, 2022
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: I'm Daniel Comp, the author/curator of Scotomaville. Come to the Glendale Civic Center, in Glendale, AZ, for a Veteran Meetup on November 19-20, 2022. Your story needs to be told!
I'm a veteran, an explorer, an entrepreneur, and a father. I believe the greatest expedition you will ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding. I invite you to join me in the public debut of Scotomaville, November 19-20th, at the Glendale Civic Center, outdoors, under the canopy of our expedition Airstream.
An expedition is a journey with a purpose. I've cycled across America three times and towed an Airstreaming more than 40 thousand miles confirming that the best outcome of an expedition is not in discovering new lands, but in seeing with new eyes. I spent decades exploring to understand why we do what we do. That is point of Scotomaville.
When I concluded my Vietnam Era Navy service I was met with hostility, social rage, and shame. My military records are heavily redacted or missing. I quickly learned to hide my service to the country that should have been honored and celebrated. Today, tens of thousands of veterans struggle with similar mental challenges, and many are amplified by disabilities and external wounds.
Scotomaville is turning veteran stories upside down by demonstrating how to see with new eyes and recognize the critical part they play in shaping the beliefs, attitudes, and behavior of their friends, family, and community around them. Veterans are still on a mission. We gave sacrificially to a journey with a purpose. It turns out that storytelling is a superpower for understanding and healing.
Come share your story, sign my campaign flag, and discover with new eyes the meaning and value of your sacrifices.
Veteran Meetup @ Glendale, AZ Civic Center, November 19-20, 2022

ChatGPT:
From the description and transcript of your first video, several themes and intentions emerge:
- Vulnerability and Authenticity: Your authenticity comes across as you share personal struggles and triumphs, such as your journey from homelessness to entrepreneurship, and from being a "horrible father" to becoming a successful parent. You also share your experiences as a veteran and the struggles you faced upon returning from service. This creates a sense of vulnerability and openness, inviting viewers to relate to your experiences.
- Empowerment through Storytelling: You emphasize the idea of storytelling as a superpower. By sharing our stories, you suggest, we can understand ourselves better, heal, and help others understand their experiences too.
- Understanding and Changing Beliefs: You mention your hope that viewers might see the possibility of transforming their own beliefs and finding meaning in their sacrifices. The idea of personal transformation and the power of changing one's perspective is a key theme here.
- Community and Shared Experience: The video calls for veterans to share their stories, sign your campaign flag, and connect with others who have had similar experiences. This indicates a desire to create a sense of community and mutual support.
- Resilience and Reflection: There's a resilience and reflective tone to the video. You discuss overcoming rejection and judgment from others, emphasizing the power of individual perception and interpretation.
From this first video, it seems that your series may follow a journey of personal development, community building, and understanding through shared experiences. If you have any specific questions or if there are certain aspects of the video you'd like to focus on, please let me know!

NOVEMBER 6th, 2022 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Twitter Truth Social Civil Trim Tab" on YouTube and as my first video post to Twitter @scotomaville: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLSmerX_TYo 61 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: You have heard me say this many times across Scotomaville. My proposal is to Open Source the creation of AI for social training humans before we post to social media.
The dashboard would require a civil corpus (made by books, posts, history, etc.) so AI learns to be more humane than humans. I believe we (I certainly do) need a 'Grammarly'-like service for civil communication. I find conversational implicature slow to process, meaning I can easily misread tone, intent, etc. I am missing some wiring - or so I've been told!
Imagine your tweets having a recommendation option - based on a corpus of advice you set in your preferences. You could build a minyan to pull suggestions on the tone, humor, alarm, intention, etc BEFORE posting something to trigger someone. Over time, the user could have a military ribbon style badge signifying their bias, displayed on their profile, adjusted by factors in their posts. AUTHENTICATION and this TRANSPARENCY would help heal our discourse, I believe.
Open-Source would allow users to understand the weights of each facet, and spin competition, while quickly building a human civil corpus. Maybe our race to Mars would not have to be as life-saving. Let me know your thoughts, concerns, and interests.
Best wishes to all humans as we raise our first generation of intelligence with little prior experience. (sarcasm + alarm sliders @ 7)
PS. I corrected my errors with app.grammarly @scotomaville
#elonmusk #civiltrimtab #tweetdashboard #twittersuggestions #opensourcetwitter #sentimentcontrols #ethicscorpus
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: A suggestion I'd like to make for social media and that is that we build through open sourcing and we Implement a civil trim tab as a social dashboard to recommend from an algorithm that we adjust. I'm Daniel comp I'm the author and curator of scotomaville I'm all about finding your blind spots let me show you my notes about a civil dashboard to be open sourced that I'd like to suggest social media partake initiate this is my notes that created this entire series based on the idea of error correction how to teach AI to make better decisions I'm going to find it and this is the notes the idea for the social dashboard in other words a recommender an algorithm that like grammarly for tone intent effect of each post prior to us recording our mental state we have the ability to dial in uh as a as a personal preferences the choices are for things like humor knowledge alarm how much do we alarm people with our tweet how much error correction do I want in this um is it popular or is it accurate and let's pull the recommendations from a corpus that I get to pick through of uh influencers over the history of man and be able to set it where it's more me or more them my tribe my um the the influencers in society so my point being [Music] it's possible to fix the tone of social media by helping those of us that post with suggestions in our blind spots where we don't see what we're about to do we don't understand how others see the world because we don't see things the way they are we see things the way we are we can teach AI it can teach us and there's a good use for it
ChatGPT:
This second video introduces a new theme that appears to be related to the use of technology for social change, particularly focusing on the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving social discourse.
- Promoting Civil Discourse: The primary focus of this video is on proposing a tool that utilizes AI to improve online communication, specifically on social media. You suggest the idea of an AI tool, similar to Grammarly, that could guide users in crafting their posts to ensure they are civil, considerate, and not inadvertently offensive or inflammatory.
- Personalization and Transparency: The tool would allow users to set their preferences, providing a more personalized and controlled experience. There's an emphasis on transparency, as users would display badges signifying their biases, thereby providing a context for their posts.
- Open Source Development: You propose that the tool should be open source, allowing users to understand its inner workings and potentially contribute to its improvement. This supports the democratization of technology and knowledge.
- Future Focused: The video shows a forward-thinking perspective, emphasizing the potential of AI to address societal challenges, such as incivility on social media platforms.
This video shows an extension of the themes in the first video – while the first focused on personal stories and self-understanding, the second proposes a technological solution to a social problem. The themes of understanding, empathy, and the potential for change are consistent across the two videos.
Is there anything specific from this video that you would like to focus on, or any further details you would like me to extract?
You:
lets keep going, adding insights to each summary from the previous video analysis. I will paste the third video description and transcript next.
ChatGPT:
Absolutely! Feel free to share the details for the next video, and I'll continue with the analysis in light of the previously discussed content.

DECEMBER 16th, 2022 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Mister Rogers Models Civil Debate" on YouTube and Twitter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEiU8Sq3rv0 40 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: @stuartvarney believes history is an excellent teacher - if we are paying attention. Mister Rogers demonstrates how we can be civil neighbors while challenging @elonmusk and @jordanbpeterson, and strong Democrats opposed to funding PBS. Be vulnerable yet courageous, strong yet teachable, committed to healing and understanding with our ideas and emotions.
"I end the program by saying, 'You've made this day a special day, by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are.'"
Rogers lived in the Pittsburgh enclave of Squirrel Hill while making his iconic children's show, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," He is known for honoring who we are and what to do with the mad that we feel.
In this clip, shortened for Twitter, Rogers testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, chaired by John Pastore, on May 1, 1969. As part of his testimony, he recites the lyrics to "What Do You Do with the Mad that You Feel?"
I find it interesting that we can change which side we sit on at the table, and still have the self-control to respect others, treating them with civility and respect. A nice lesson from those further up our Personal Everest!

ChatGPT:
Based on the analysis of your video content, it seems that this video shifts the narrative focus from individual introspection and self-discovery to the importance of civility, respect, and emotional honesty in communication. The video pays tribute to Mister Rogers' powerful advocacy for public television and his message about valuing each individual. Here are some insights and key points derived from the video:
- Role Models and Emulating Civility: The video highlights Mister Rogers as a model for how to debate and discuss difficult topics with civility and respect, emphasizing that we can disagree with others while still treating them kindly and considering their perspectives. This connects with the previous videos' emphasis on introspection and understanding ourselves better so we can improve our interactions with others.
- Value of Individuality: The video emphasizes Mister Rogers' belief in the unique value of every individual, which dovetails with your message of personal introspection and the journey of self-discovery.
- Importance of Emotional Honesty: The video emphasizes Mister Rogers' belief that feelings are "mentionable and manageable," encouraging emotional honesty and self-awareness in communication. This supports your previous message about the value of introspection and self-understanding.
- Advocacy and Courage: The video underscores Mister Rogers' courage in advocating for public television and making a difference. It illustrates the concept of "civil debate" that you raised in your second video and serves as a great example of how to stand up for what you believe in with dignity, respect, and sincerity.
- The Power of Storytelling: The video also showcases the power of storytelling in shaping perceptions and achieving goals. Your previous videos also emphasized the importance of understanding one's story and how it impacts our behaviors and perspectives.
Overall, this video seems to be a continuation and further application of your overall message: recognizing our blind spots, understanding ourselves, and communicating with civility and respect. In this video, Mister Rogers' testimony and approach serve as a practical, real-world model of these principles in action.

DECEMBER 29, 2022 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Feel alone in the world?" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFbghrqxY5A 52 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: Feel alone in the world? There are days, we all have, when all we want to know is that we are not alone. Knowing our frustration is common, and that our reactive behavior can be stopped would make a huge difference. Yeah - me too! In order to escape the inevitable amygdala hijacking, we can follow in the way others began, recognizing we are NOT ALONE, that redirecting our emotions reactions with mature thinking, changing habitual shouts, yelps and screams over small challenges can be overcome.
In this short, Daniel demonstrates (or does he?) that frustration is human. It's part of our cognitive architecture, and yet, there is a way to overcome triggering!

I bet you too have days that you simply want to know you're not alone in the struggle. me too. I'm Daniel comp let's get the heck out of scotomaville.
ChatGPT:
This video, titled "Feel alone in the world?", focuses on how to manage personal frustration and reactive behavior. The key insights and takeaways from the video and its description are:
- Universal Struggle: The video underscores the idea that everyone experiences days of frustration and feelings of being alone. It uses a relatable, everyday example (a lost zipper pull) to demonstrate how small challenges can lead to outsized reactions, highlighting the universality of these experiences.
- Amygdala Hijacking: The description makes a reference to "amygdala hijacking", a term coined by psychologist Daniel Goleman, referring to a situation where one's rational response is overridden by a strong emotional reaction. This indicates an interest in neuroscientific explanations for emotional responses, which are often driven by biological mechanisms that can be understood and managed.
- Overcoming Frustration: The video suggests that while frustration is a natural part of human cognitive architecture, it is possible to redirect emotional reactions with mature thinking and change habitual responses. The creator (Daniel Comp) illustrates this concept by describing his solution to the lost zipper pull: transforming his coat into a pullover jacket.
- Community Support: The video again emphasizes the importance of knowing that one is not alone in their struggles, indicating the importance of community and mutual understanding in personal growth and self-improvement. This is aligned with the community-focused approach mentioned in previous videos and the event flyer.
- Personal Everest: The description continues to use the 'Personal Everest' metaphor, emphasizing personal challenges and struggles that one must overcome. The video invitation encourages viewers to learn from "men of valor" and "veteran champions", reinforcing the idea that one can find inspiration and guidance from others who have faced similar challenges.
Overall, this video reinforces key themes from previous videos, such as personal struggle, community support, and personal growth. It maintains a conversational and relatable tone, underscoring the commonality of frustration and the possibility of overcoming it.

JANUARY 2nd, 2023 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Escaping a Sh*t Hole" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a57QkpvF6Lk 17 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: You have either heard it recently, or judged someone with deficit character. In either case, you're on the receiving end of a wound. Civility, harmony, and goodwill are mature choices, usually made following the realization that we dig sh*t holes with criticism, discord, and self-hate.
The last three years have provided ample opportunities for digging holes. I did. Fortunately I recognized what I was doing and chose a different path - not falling in the very hole I had dug.
One way out of a sh*t hole habit is to rope-up with others heading up their Personal Everest. Think of this like crossing glassier crevasses on skinny ladder bridges. You can't get there alone. Someone had to place the ladders.
Blaise Pascal recommends you find someone that has been where you want to go, and to "follow in-the-way they BEGAN". That's a lot of room for escaping pitfalls, while charting your own pathway.
Scotomaville is such a guide. You can watch mistakes being made, learn to avoid similar error, and record your journey as a legacy, all the while using self-reflection video modeling to mature. What an adventure!

This video titled "Escaping a Sh*t Hole" emphasizes the concept of personal transformation by recognizing and moving away from destructive behaviors. The main insights and takeaways from the video and its description are:
- Recognizing Deficit Behaviors: The video suggests that people often find themselves trapped in patterns of behavior marked by criticism, discord, and self-hate, symbolically referred to as digging a "sh*t hole". Recognizing these behaviors is the first step towards breaking out of them.
- Personal Transformation: The speaker, Daniel Comp, shares his own experiences of finding himself in a metaphorical hole and consciously choosing a different path, thus avoiding falling into the very hole he dug. This anecdote emphasizes that personal transformation is possible and often starts with self-awareness and a conscious choice to change.
- Community and Support: Echoing previous videos, this one too stresses the importance of finding support from others who are working on overcoming their challenges, illustrated through the analogy of crossing glacier crevasses on skinny ladder bridges. According to the speaker, escaping self-destructive habits often requires the guidance and support of those who have navigated similar terrain.
- Guidance and Learning from Others: The video references Blaise Pascal, suggesting that individuals should find someone who has been where they want to go and follow the way they began, thus learning from their experiences and avoiding the same pitfalls.
- Scotomaville as a Guide: Scotomaville is presented as a resource for people who want to learn from others' mistakes, avoid similar errors, and document their journey as a legacy. The process of self-reflection, learning from others, and recording one's personal journey is highlighted as a means of personal growth and transformation.
- Personal Everest: Continuing the metaphor from previous communications, the video invites viewers on a journey to overcome their personal Everest, stressing the importance of understanding why we do what we do and why society is so divided.
In summary, this video reinforces earlier themes of personal growth, community support, self-awareness, and learning from others while introducing the concept of recognizing and escaping self-destructive behaviors. It presents Scotomaville as a guide and resource for this journey of personal transformation.

JANUARY 14th, 2023 I Posted the first video for Volume Three entitled: "SCOTOMAVILLE v3.00 Video Journal Quick-start" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAdvH8DqsMs 11 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: How do I start video journaling for self-reflection video modeling? Blaise Pascal recommends you 'follow in the way I began' - (not exactly as I do). Mimic what you see, hear, realize - that's what the Apostle Paul said.
In this quick-start episode, we begin the third volume of the Scotomaville trilogy. I've layered a few story-lines in the narrative, sequence, and in the editing. You can discover them by watching this a few times. Remember, I Do, You Watch. We Do, We Watch. You Do, and I Watch.
Look for the numerous camera angles that take time to setup and take down. Catch how I didn't script the story-line, or the scenes, but expected something edu-taining to unfold.
I hope the take-away is to shoot the mundane, look for the special, and trust that authentic disclosure results in maximum learning.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Angelina and I have come to the Pacific Northwest specifically to Moser on a piece of land that Garth Hardin has just occupied [Music] I woke up this morning it's been sub freezing it's been really really cold and had [Music] thoughts trying to understand if I should shoot something and imagining what it might be and the thought is that beginning of the book the first two um volumes are essentially I do you watch and that the we do we watch is maybe just now beginning for Garth you see I didn't have a father hey growing up that would show me that would do with me so it's almost as though I would skip that part expecting Garth to be able to just shoot his own story to know the way to instinctively recognize the importance of the mundane the clip I had shot explaining a bit more was corrupted because I mistakenly shot it in slow motion no audio track the point of it was that the men that I had the privilege of being mentored by over my lifetime told me what to do they didn't show me what to do they directed me they didn't model for me that's what I've learned about scotomaville getting lots of clips takes lots of time you'll see in the upcoming scenes many many camera angles think in your mind how many times the camera had to be set up and you go to it and you come back to get the camera no you walk away from it and get anyway having lots of different angles having lots of angles that you can cut and edit is very important [Music] because it's self-reflection video modeling you're going to see this even in the mundane later discover that even the small things matter when you're trying to put together a story you don't always know where the b-roll is going to fit I want to shoot this piece as the main track of the story and I'm not sure exactly where it's going but I'm going to trust that in following that unction this will plan out not so much planned but this will pan out you see so today we have a small task we have the mundane to do we're going to do this together I think and then we're going to use this to this track in order to stitch together the video and in that I will do with him we will do and we will watch so it would be easy to miss an opportunity because it's playing boring something simple as the coffee percolating [Music] knowing when to record what might be important can be a thing that you hesitate on you you think it's just a mundane all we're going to do today we just need to fix some of the components of a table say I have to go get the tools it's cold outside [Music] foreign I gotta get the um clamp and the drills and the screws just to put a leg back on a table we've got to go inside and foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] clear the table turn the table over glue the pieces together and drill it out and fasten it back together foreign [Music] and now we'll take two [Music] look too sharp where are you going I think they call this the Walk of Shame all right so um when we're trying to do something and we run into you know uh something that was generally unforeseen like a battery suddenly um not um being drained and having to um not just get another battery but another drill um and change out the bit and blah blah blah blah all of these little things um add up and disallow us from reaching our goal for that 10 minute period that hour that half a day that day that week [Music] girth your name for Murphy's right the spuds yeah I love it Murphy just buzzing around like a dung flying so it's not just that you're gonna be shooting b-roll to cover your main track you're gonna have all the redo undo and this actually turns out to be the funny story perfect but everybody wants to know absolutely perfect what's the reality of all I wanted to do was put a screw in it actually has to go out there's a tornado a hurricane [Music] and just in case we're gonna bring two not to be walking over there but you don't see what I'm doing okay now that the tip fits the end of the screw in a moment of hesitation the remainder of the job right there's no screws in here these are these are up [Music] the reason they call it the shame is because you didn't slow down enough the first time to see what you were really going to have to be up against more time [Music] watch out [Music] so that's a matter of just finding right the glue won't come on [Music] foreign turn it right side up put it back where it belongs just a bunch of mundane steps in repairing a table see but the importance might be that we do and we watch not for the fixing of the table but for the passing of the Baton for the transfer of the importance of observing with new eyes in believing that there is a story to be told even within the Journey of the mundane I think that's largely the lesson here that we create something and we watch what comes out coffee beans coffee beans [Music] okay so they're all rolling in my chair is hooked up on the leg of that so that'll move it around so we have three and now we need to get a Mark in the audio track to synchronize multi-camera Spike okay all right so I woke up this morning on day three or four and of our progress so this Baton Pass and the drawings that I just did and I went okay I'm feeling annoyed there's a couple of other issues and uh this drawing I realized is wonky first I wanted to say I have keep track of progress of this journey just so that I've got a written um Journal of it see that even even these kind of things civil term cap or social dashboard that I posted for you on it Twitter so I would suggest getting one of these Fred Meyers 10 bucks because this is really easy to keep next to your bed and just jot and then you go back to sleep and you don't have to lay there going go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep right boy that would help yeah I I wrote this list of uh you know shoot the uh the main track shoot the b-roll Pinnacle template you're going to find this almost hilarious and that if you don't keep yourself organized in one place as soon as you uh discover you need the b-roll of that you'll probably have to walk to the dumpster to get it out because it'll be loose paper I don't need this anymore I'm done no keep it all together you'll want to keep it all in one place so that when you realize you have to refer back to it for b-roll then you don't have to dump to your dump to your walkster and you're very likely going to find the auto rotate constantly in the way then what we did is uh we spent a day upgrading your laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10 and getting the drivers to work and then each of the devices so cell phone GoPro to backup drive transfer all the dry all the stuff and then we built a template in Pinnacle uh so the first day all right get in the table second day getting the the equipment the tools to work and then uh I said okay Garth let me show you mine here's here's the timeline so far up to this midpoint that we're at and then here are the tasks next go for it what the hell is wrong with that Daniel why did I wake up all wonky well remember the Clifton strength binders assessment the strengths uh who is strongest and weakest in what that are our strength becomes our offender offenders and how we think it's chapters and that is right out of life skills class offending in our strengths and it is most certainly almost all the time us katoma my top strength achiever yours adaptability adaptability okay so look what happens I start I take a couple of days and I you know like one and I crank out here's the video Garth ready go and I expect two days okay well we're on day three and I'm like what the hell come on Garth you inside of me I'm pressing my own wounded expectations onto your performance not understanding you're adapting in your strength to all the that you have to deal with to all this new stuff including all of this preceding and editing uh God and and everything electronic because me plus electronic Gadget equals power grid outage and industrialized round and flickering lights so I have to adjust my expectations that this could be whatever your timeline needs to be to get there and that this is not you do I watch already this is supposed to be we do we watch yeah so I'm like oh error correction Daniel change your expectation stop having that thing go on okay and then I went oh this is what's going on remember this Maslow's hierarchy the early Maslow's was Earth can't do anything until he gets his Basics taken care of and then he can move on to other stuff and they went no no no no that's not correct we can work on all of these other aspects of actualization and meaning and purpose and uh contribution we can do that while we're doing this it's just that we do a lot less of it right because of that I can agree yeah right yeah okay so that's actually what's going on my expectations are out of order well along those things like getting dressed are really difficult because I don't have the use of my fingers and I can't grab anything I can't pinch anything and it's just it's maddening it's absolutely maddening in every single time that I go to grab something pinch something manipulate something my brain is telling my fingers and hands to do something and they don't do it and there is a sensation in my arms and my hands that is beyond description but it is a very unique sensation and it has come to be a constant reminder of I'm I'm I'm handicapped I'm an invalid I can't I won't all this stuff and it is it makes me so angry and so frustrated that I literally I have amygdala hijackings on a daily basis they've been a bit less since they got here because I didn't want them to see it after 11 months of being in this ridiculous environment of a motel with all kinds of literal Section 8 social program Nut Cases surrounding the place and interrupting the place on a daily basis pretty much and then the year before that being renting a garage that turned out to be ready to me illegally and I was reported to the building department because of it um all of those kinds of things made my spirit very restless and [Music] um through a progression of sequenced events I got here to this cabin that has some some challenges but it is in a beautiful place it is out away from The Madness of Hood River this has become a tremendous tremendous opposite of what I've been in for two years and it is taking a tremendously longer time to sink into my brain that hey here you are now you've got your own place you can be your own director in a sense there are no words to describe that you know I I mean focus on that on that on that picture if you can yeah um it involved the necessity of very solid nutrition and in trying to make my body as injury resistant as possible and at the same time develop everything I could psychologically and physically to mitigate injury to hit that jump want to go off that drop want to negotiate that step up want to learn to increase your balance to ride that skinny that leads up to a gnarly jump um or gnarly drops all of this was it was a tremendous focus of time and energy and it significantly decreased great many other things it was a tremendous source and so it's been a trim it's been horrifying loss horrifying it just I mean even you can't I cannot even come close to describing it enough um but there's nothing I can do about it but to attempt to again to deal with it in a in an effective way make something good out of it find a way to straighten the vertebrae in my neck and possibly reverse these these these tremendously bad um effects wow God that is what I'm trying to avoid Jesus man it just does not seem possible [Applause] [Music] [Music] because this place gets cold so quickly

Blaise Pascal once said to 'follow in the way I began' and we're taking his advice, showing you a practical and engaging method to document your own journey of growth and discovery.
We layer multiple storylines in this narrative to provide a rich and multifaceted viewing experience. Remember, the philosophy is simple: I Do, You Watch. We Do, We Watch. You Do, I Watch. The process may seem ordinary, but trust us, there's magic in the mundane.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
In this video, Angelina and I journey to the Pacific Northwest to meet Garth Hardin, a man who is starting a new chapter in his life. Garth, like many of us, didn't have a guiding hand growing up and has had to navigate his own path. But now, in the spirit of We Do, We Watch, we're stepping in to journey with him and learn from his experiences.
We don't script our story, or the scenes. Instead, we let life unfold in front of the lens, capturing the ordinary moments that often reveal extraordinary truths. We set up multiple camera angles, add layers to our narrative, and trust in the process of authentic self-disclosure for maximum learning.
But it's not all smooth sailing. We encounter hiccups along the way – corrupted video clips, equipment issues, and the inevitability of Murphy's Law – but these challenges only add texture to our story. After all, isn't life just a series of b-rolls stitched together?
We also dive into personal issues, discussing strengths and weaknesses, adapting to new circumstances, and dealing with expectations. We touch upon Maslow's hierarchy of needs, how we can work towards self-actualization while tending to our basic needs, and how we each have our own pace in life.
Garth shares his struggles living with a disability, his daily battles with frustration and anger, and his process of adapting to his new environment. We listen as he recounts his love for extreme sports, the devastating loss he experienced due to his physical limitations, and his determined efforts to reclaim his life.
In the end, we all have our battles, and our journeys may be different, but we can learn so much from each other's stories. The mundane tasks and ordinary moments carry extraordinary lessons if we're willing to see them.
So, tune in, learn, reflect, and join the conversation. Let's create something meaningful together.

Explain how this video keeps with the theme of all the previous videos and content
ChatGPT:
From what you've shared, the theme of the video series seems to be self-reflection, personal growth, overcoming challenges, and gaining self-awareness, particularly through the medium of video journaling. This video appears to be consistent with these themes in several ways.
Firstly, the act of video journaling itself is a form of self-reflection and self-documentation. The video journal format allows the subjects to document their experiences, thoughts, and emotions in a raw, unfiltered manner. This video demonstrates this through the real-time narration and candid footage of the subjects' day-to-day activities, such as repairing a table or making coffee. The aim is to highlight the significance of mundane activities, suggesting that even these can have profound implications for personal growth and self-understanding.
The theme of personal growth is also evident in the video's depiction of overcoming challenges. The speaker talks about coming to terms with his own expectations and adjusting them to better suit the situation at hand. This shows a willingness to grow and adapt, which is a key aspect of personal growth.
Moreover, the video includes dialogue about living with physical limitations and adapting to new environments. These discussions underscore the theme of resilience and adaptability, two qualities that are essential for personal growth and self-improvement.
The aspect of self-awareness is evident in the subjects' keen introspection and self-analysis. They discuss their strengths and weaknesses, past experiences, and current struggles, all of which contribute to a greater understanding of themselves.
In summary, the video maintains the themes of the previous videos through its focus on video journaling, self-reflection, personal growth, and self-awareness. It uses everyday activities and candid discussions to illuminate these themes and invites viewers to engage in similar introspective journeys.

JANUARY 14th, 2023 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "ai NOWHERE gamification" on YouTube and on Twitter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imX37whCGU 10 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: Is Ai NO WHERE or NOW HERE? I was triggered 15 years ago with gamification by AI mimicking humans. It's the same today - except young generations are just as vulnerable, yet ill-prepared for bamboozling, hoodwinking, and critical thinking hacks.
"History is an excellent teacher if we are paying attention"; says Stuart Varney. This short combines clips two decades apart, yet pointing out that humans are vulnerable, and would be wise to sharpen-up on awareness.

ChatGPT:
The "ai NOWHERE gamification" video seems to stay true to the core themes of your content: introspection, self-awareness, and human adaptation in the face of change, with a new focus on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in our lives. The video title itself "ai NOWHERE gamification" is a play on words that can be interpreted as AI being both omnipresent (NOW HERE) and non-existent or invisible (NO WHERE) in our daily lives, reflecting the ambiguity and uncertainty that many people feel about the role of AI.
The video emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and awareness in the face of AI, reflecting concerns about how AI and gamification techniques can manipulate human behavior. It also brings attention to the vulnerabilities of younger generations who are heavily exposed to AI but may not be equipped to critically engage with it.
The video also stays true to the self-reflection theme by using an example from the speaker's personal life, his memory of cycling across America and the triggering experience of the traffic noise. It illustrates how past experiences can affect present perceptions and emotions, and how personal insights can emerge from paying attention to those reactions.
The video continues the journey of personal growth, inviting viewers to "start your expedition out of Scotomaville," which implies a journey of self-discovery, becoming more aware of their reactions and how they interact with the world around them, including AI.
Overall, the video seems to seamlessly weave the themes of personal growth, self-awareness, introspection, resilience, and adaptability into the narrative about AI and the challenges it poses.

JANUARY 21st, 2023 I Posted the second episode for Scotomaville Volume Three entitled "SCOTOMAVILLE v3.01 Finding our WY" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiVCJO4k9fU 21 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: It seems to me that finding our WAY in life is closely related to finding our WHY. Once we chose a route, fully commit to that path, THEN provision and guidance reveals itself. That's what W.H. Murray wrote about conquering a challenge. I believe WHY precedes WAY.
I found money on the side of the road twenty-five miles from Baker Nevada, heading toward the Great Basin National Park. I was NO WHERE. Provision was NOW HERE.
It's 2 A.M. as I write this. I woke up compelled to post this video - NOW. In six hours Angelina and I are to meet with another provision. It seems that guidance which results in provision closely follows commitment to a course of action. It's fertile ground for fear - or faith.
Philippians 4: 6-8; "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
It seems to be true - again.
"The Greatest Expedition you will ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding, as the prize is not in discovering new lands, but in seeing with new eyes." Daniel Comp
The obstacle is the way seems what Marcus Aurelius advised: "Our actions may be impeded . . . but there can be no impeding our intentions or dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way."
Perception, action, and will are the three disciplines for overcoming challenges, and finding our way.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: yeah we're gonna take the trash out and you've seen this that was a familiar thing but not in the snow we're going to start volume three with this episode on finding a way meaning if you intend to fully commit to an expedition a journey with a purpose you really need to have in your mind an outcome that you want and most certainly there are crevasses between the idea and the outcome challenges not just production challenges scheduling Financial emotional Market challenges all sorts of things and finding the time or better making the effort consistently to produce your videos will be a hurdle Marcus Aurelius you'll read the obstacle is the way discovering why you want to create your own Journey why do you want to document it who does it matter four your self for your family as a legacy all of those Anthony Robbins once shared that if you can't find the motivation from within to get to where you want to go don't look forward but picture yourself on your Deathbed what is it that you will deeply regret in hindsight you see that can be greatly motivating if you would regret having not done it that sounds interesting to think about yeah one of the things that Angelina and I do regularly to expand our beliefs is to see what's possible so that we could imagine fabulous outcome kind of a moonshot if you will finding a way often means attempting something larger than you think you're capable of and the saying goes that if you try to make it to the moon and fail at least you'll get your butt over your neighbor's fence and it's done hour by hour editing and minute by minute seeing what if volume three as I can see now is a how-to thank you showing that you won't get there the first time it'll take numerous attempts before you come to a summit that you're pleased with let's have a look at some of the early attempts I did if you're in business for yourself I bet you know what this feels like oh boy here's something that you don't see every day I'm like in the middle of nowhere I mean literally and I look down let me see if I can zoom in here a little bit there's a bunch of money playing all around the side of the road thank you God that's interesting I want to be sure to relate this story accurately if you look across the valley and I've just crossed it's about oh 25 miles or so that I've been riding now during that time I've been having this little conversation with god about provision and what is it that I need to do to take my service to the next level you know and it's just basically serving more people and I'm looking at my totem it's a reminder of you know God's faithfulness and his provision and all of that you notice right here provision of work finances and uh that's about the time I was getting pretty hot and decided to stop and uh take off my jersey and in the process looking down I find 118 dollars I can't say that I manifested the money and I certainly didn't have an intention to find it but you know I do have a real harsh desire to serve people and if this little story serves you then it's a good one for me I'm like I said out here in early Utah that's an interesting one to think about how provision shows up when you need it I think this is worth recording just for the record um we just finished with a really excellent meeting with Purple Heart organization and Patrick was very receptive very entrepreneurial and wanting to help wounded veterans and with scotomaville we then needed to go put some gas in the car but we're just leaving after having put five dollars into the gas tank because I couldn't fill it all the way up and I'm thinking okay fine how many miles does that get us and we have about a an hour drive tomorrow to go look at some property and I'm thinking through huh how we're gonna make this happen getting there and getting back and not even four minutes later after putting in that five dollars I get a text message on my phone for one of the persons that's saying I'm trying to pay to be part of your project and I want to do a two payment option and it's not allowing me to and I'm like I'll send you a venbo right now William H Murray was totally correct and scripture supports the same idea when you're fully committed and not until then and you know it just makes me um appreciate as a couple how we navigate through the adventures together and thank you Elon for sharing your transparency and how you not just sleep on the factory floor to show your team your commute you're fully committed in being there but that you too have sacrificed what is required for the greater good of all so we are following in the way in which he and others have lent and that's just part of the journey to get comfortable with being uncomfortable sometimes

The second episode of Scotomaville Volume Three, "SCOTOMAVILLE v3.01 Finding our WY," explores the intricate relationship between finding our WAY and finding our WHY in life. The theme of personal growth and introspection is once again at the forefront, with an emphasis on the importance of commitment, faith, and determination.
Like the previous video, this episode also presents personal experiences as metaphors for broader life lessons. For example, finding money on the side of the road while in the middle of nowhere symbolizes how provision and guidance can appear unexpectedly once we commit to our path. The video goes on to elaborate on this concept by citing W.H. Murray's quote on commitment leading to providence, which aligns perfectly with your message of fully committing to one's personal journey.
This video also integrates spiritual aspects, bringing in philosophical teachings from Marcus Aurelius and biblical scriptures to underscore the importance of perception, action, and will in overcoming challenges and finding our way. You are encouraging viewers to persist in the face of obstacles, adapting to them, and using them as a way forward.
In essence, the episode continues the themes of self-awareness and personal growth but puts more emphasis on the power of commitment and faith in finding one's purpose and direction in life. It reassures viewers that challenges are part of the journey, and overcoming them leads to personal development. The discussion of guidance and provision appearing once we commit to our path also introduces an element of faith and spirituality.
So, this video remains consistent with the overall theme of your content, encouraging self-reflection, commitment, resilience, and adaptability, while also integrating a strong spiritual component.

The video invitation "no•ble Veteran Conversation in Hood River, Oregon" extends the theme of community engagement, personal growth, and resilience, focusing on the unique experiences and wisdom of veterans.
You're inviting both young men and veterans to engage in meaningful conversation, extending a sense of unity and community, particularly for those who may feel lost or in need of guidance. This directly ties into the earlier content's theme of self-discovery and the importance of interpersonal connections in that process.
Moreover, this video emphasizes the importance of shared experiences and knowledge transfer from veterans to younger generations. It suggests that veterans can play a crucial role in guiding young men, advising them based on their own past experiences, and helping them avoid potential pitfalls. This ties in with the earlier content's emphasis on self-awareness and growth through learning.
As with previous content, the focus here is on personal journeys and overcoming challenges, albeit in this case, the lens has been narrowed to target a specific community - veterans and young men. This video's objective aligns with the overall theme of the series, which is about self-understanding, personal growth, and community support.
The usage of the term "Scotomaville" continues to be a metaphor for personal challenges, blind spots, and the journey to overcome them. In this context, the event is positioned as a step towards exiting one's Scotomaville. Therefore, the video stays true to the main theme of the content series by encouraging individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery, learning, and growth, using the assistance of the collective wisdom of veterans.

The video entitled "Veteran Events The Dalles OR" is similar to your previous video posted on January 28th, 2023. It seems like this video is part of a campaign aimed at facilitating conversations between young men and veterans, specifically in the region of The Dalles, Oregon.
The video and its description highlight that the event will be a platform for veterans to share their experiences, lessons, and character strengths. It also underlines that young men can learn about cognitive biases, blind spots, and how storytelling can be used as a 'superpower'. This, again, aligns with the overarching theme of the Scotomaville content series which is personal growth, community support, and self-understanding.
The invitation to the event in The Dalles, Oregon, continues the emphasis on 'Scotomaville' as a metaphor for individual challenges and journeys to overcome them. Through the phrase "helping you get the heck out of Scotomaville", it becomes evident that the event is designed to assist attendees in understanding and overcoming their personal hurdles.
Furthermore, the video describes the event as a 'Personal Everest', indicating that it's a significant personal challenge that attendees will be encouraged to face and conquer. This further consolidates the central theme of personal growth and overcoming challenges found in the Scotomaville content series.

FEBRUARY 16th, 2023 I Posted the Third video Episode for Scotomaville Volume Three entitled "SCOTOMAVILLE v3.02 Roped-up to Escape Tyranny" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMt4CX37XJ8 25 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: Escaping tyranny takes more than luck. You must develop critical thinking skills to cross your desert. You can mature much quicker, and immensely safer by roping-up with someone to follow, and someone to lead. You can then arrest your falls into crevasses, with a much shorter rope!
I believe; "The Greatest Expedition you will ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding, for the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes." I challenge you to take up the adventure of getting out of Scotomaville. Follow in the way I began.
Blaise Pascal suggested you follow the way they began; "You would like to attain faith, and do not know the way; you would like to cure yourself of unbelief and ask the remedy for it. Learn of those who have been bound like you, and who now stake all their possessions. These are people who know the way which you would follow, and who are cured of an ill of which you would be cured. Follow the way by which they began; by acting as if they believed,"
W.H. Murray wrote: "This may sound too simple, but is great in consequence. Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way."
If you feel a deep sense of commitment to God, Country, Community, Family, and your personal mental health and longevity, then consider this invitation to explore the challenge of a Personal Everest with a small group of supportive men of valor.

I've championed numerous expeditions (journeys with a purpose) for decades. I believe it is possible to dance with the invisible world... when you are fully committed to summit your Personal Everest. Become vulnerable yet courageous, strong yet teachable, committed to healing and understanding with noble Veterans and veteran champions.
W.H. Murray's The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951): "... but when I said that nothing had been done I erred in one important matter. We had definitely committed ourselves and were halfway out of our ruts. We had put down our passage money— booked a sailing to Bombay. This may sound too simple, but is great in consequence. Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. bricolage—“working with what is at hand.” in contrast to an engineering conception of design as problem-solving bricolage is a craftsman’s understanding that designs result from “tinkering.” The strength of the improvisational tinkering approach is that it can handle ill-defined problems, and that it realizes a “silver lining” from severe limitations of time and/or available resources by focusing attention on what will work, as opposed to what might be optimum under ideal conditions.

MARCH 22nd, 2023 I Posted the Third Episode and Chapter of Volume Three of Scotomaville entitled "SCOTOMAVILLE v3.03 - Pace & Sequence" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSsna8XfxqU 47 views to date
VIDEO DESCRIPTION: I imagine most people are afraid to look at the causes of their grief. I believe people do not want to feel vulnerable by accepting they are being gamed, conned, and bamboozled while their world-view is narrowed, and their self-image is trampled.
Undertaking a journey with a purpose - an expedition - into the thin air of self-awareness to understand our weaknesses demands bravery - at least a small measure of hope, and small sure steps. You might follow in the way I began.
In this third Episode of the third volume of Scotomaville I demonstrate learning several important concepts that have been cloaked up till now. The human condition is worse than I imagined, and there are many paths to gaining leverage to make measurable progress in reasonable time.
By parsing many imagined future-selves we can die to weak ideas while strengthening our best outcomes. By managing our dopamine production, and sequencing our learning effort we can gain exponential rewards and successes and rewards while minimizing destructive squalls and ad ho·mi·nem (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. attacks. It's called being civil while maintaining integrity, and humble enough to learn from others.
Israel escaped tyranny only to cross a desert while complaining about difficult conditions and increased responsibility. By establishing a reasonable pace for transformation, gratitude began compounding, to prepare them for the promised land.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: welcome back to tomaville this is volume three episode two on Pace and sequence it's March very streaming it's still snowing perfect example of the Murphys and spuds and curves that make their way into your production pace yeah let's encapsulate by looking back quickly at tomeville as a trilogy volume one is on escaping tyranny it's about gaining awareness that you are enslaved to your own bad thinking and that that awareness can help you flee to your desert aha of where you're wrong in order to sharpen your sword by watching my errors you can learn what not to step on and gain some understanding to cross your own deserts and the desert is this process of releasing the grumbling giving way to the process and gaining understanding that's volume two and in volume three we're dealing with the discipline of self-authoring let me show you a few things that I've been digging up with this last few weeks if you're looking to facilitate people's ability to make positive changes in their own life there is nothing you can do that's more helpful to that than to make them literate and if you want to help them understand who they are in the deepest sense over and above the superficial attractions of tribalism let's say you have to educate them deeply in this historical realm that requires the acquisition of explicit knowledge about the central nature of the human being the pace that you take for production is determined by a bunch of different factors some of it's the weather much of it has to do with the events of your Expedition as they come along and specifically it has to do with how fast you can become aware and gain understanding that's learning or by mimicking what you're seeing me doing when I think about setting a pace for something I remember Jim Rohn that life expects measurable results in a reasonable amount of time that's why they make those fifth grade chairs so small [Music] and a great deal has to do with the position you take leaning forward to the Future Self self-authoring imagining what your character would be in the future and by doing so being able to create the dopamine feel good sensation without the addictions and without being frozen so actually getting yourself to take that action go out into some snow into something uncomfortable something that's not of your usual pattern step out of that purposefully ideally we simply imagine an outcome cut up the time available into equal increments and go about the work but unfortunately that's not how it usually pans out a reasonable pace which would be the number of episodes over the amount of time and you might expect to get a great number of episodes done in a reasonable amount of time well let me share with you some of the things that disrupt that one of those that you can't control much are the macro events in those tend to be things like political events the economy and financial events the life phase that you happen to be in the historic events like the pandemic Etc and then there are circumstances that we find ourselves in oops and those circumstances can be things like the Market if you are an entrepreneur or self-employed the weather um the rules that you play and the needs that you have to be responsible for and then the timing how this interplays with other people and then finally the one that you have the most control over and that is effort and attitude in starting out you're going to have a certain amount of skills to either that you already have them or you're gonna need to gain them both in creative and in technical production and storytelling and you have your mood that you can control through future self and self-talk and those sorts of things and growing dendrites because you're going to discover along the way a number of other wounds many of these things you have no control over yeah you might adjust the timing for the weather slightly you may try to Reserve this personal Everest for the phase that you happen to be in but in most case you're going to start out with a a known quantity of skills and have to acquire skill sets through new learning um and you have an established number of wounds so until you know exactly how much this is and which ones of these you don't have the really the main thing that you can control is your mood and that comes about through your dopamine [Music] production which is a complex little system [Music] what does your real Pace look like more like this you may be able to crawl up to discover oh no you have to go down and across and back up and back down and so your real your expectations are for this but the reality is you have all of these different factors that will emerge over time and that is more realistic expectation for establishing your pace you may write some quick notes and try but fail to crinkle the paper and then not quite get it right a second time and then the third time and the fourth time and see all the number of takes I have to add that into your expectations of your pace there's simply too many variables you want to go out for a ride when the weather is good but you don't have any control of it dendrite growth seems to be one of the largest determinants like how quickly can you learn something to go from awareness of tyranny to an understanding of the way across the desert and grow the dendrites and change the beliefs attitudes and behaviors all of that is dependent upon how quickly you learn and transform your thinking one of the my best known piece of work called the mandelbrot set it's a set which is formalized so short people think it's ridiculous it's it's almost as simple as forming of a circle formula can be very simple and create a universe of bottomless complexity amazing wealth of detail which is present there is just wonderful [Music] thank you foreign this is an example of the unfolding nature of awareness and understanding just like a fractal the Fiat 500 has been the cover of the book for almost four years and I just found this fact about a Fiat you might think a Fiat is just an Italian car right it's actually means a legal authoritative decision that has absolute sanction it could gain an almost biblical Aura of authority like a movie Pharaoh saying so let it be written so let it be done so might it be a Fiat I think that's really funny here I am four years into using the Fiat as an analogy of being underpowered and it's got a double meaning that makes for a good segue to sequencing dopamine you should sequence your clips for your own dendrite growth don't worry about how they stitch together for someone else's viewing consider how you want to record your learning process and your footsteps

Please be creative by writing a metaphor using the mountaineering Expedition Execution Steps explaining in 6th grade terms what Scotomaville seems to be about.
ChatGPT:
Scotomaville is like embarking on a mountaineering expedition to conquer your Personal Everest. Imagine you're a brave explorer, ready to face challenges and reach new heights. Here's how Scotomaville breaks down into simple 6th-grade terms, using mountaineering as a metaphor:
- Choosing the Destination: In Scotomaville, you're setting out on a journey to understand yourself better and overcome your own limitations. It's like picking a majestic mountain as your goal.
- Gathering Supplies: Just like mountaineers need equipment like ropes, harnesses, and maps, Scotomaville equips you with tools such as awareness, self-reflection, and learning from others.
- Assessing the Route: Before climbing a mountain, you must carefully plan the path you'll take. In Scotomaville, you'll assess your own thinking patterns, identify areas for growth, and plan how to challenge and change them.
- Taking Sure Steps: Climbing a mountain requires taking one step at a time, being careful not to slip or stumble. Scotomaville teaches you to make small, manageable changes and progress steadily towards personal transformation.
- Roped-Up for Support: Just as mountaineers rope themselves together for safety, Scotomaville encourages you to find a supportive community of like-minded individuals. Together, you can help each other navigate challenges and lend a helping hand when needed.
- Celebrating the Summit: Finally, reaching the summit of a mountain is a moment of triumph and celebration. In Scotomaville, your personal summit represents the growth, understanding, and positive changes you've achieved. It's a time to reflect on your journey and be proud of your accomplishments.
So, like climbing a mountain, Scotomaville is an adventure where you discover new things about yourself, overcome obstacles, and reach new heights. It's about pushing your limits, finding support, and celebrating your personal victories along the way. Get ready to embark on this incredible expedition and conquer your own Personal Everest in Scotomaville!

MARCH, 2023
03-01 I prompted Chat GPT about Pointman Ministries in The Dalles led by Mike Knof. I then emailed it to Mike to read himself, hoping he would take me up on my offer to coach him with AI in order to write his book, or memoirs. I began getting cold responses of my visit, and emails or texts go unanswered. I will discover over a few communications that the leadership was spooked by one of the territorial leaders warning that I am a chalitan, looking for handouts and taking advantage of PMIM members. It seems to me that this attitude and ignorance of my Bricolage offer fits what Jordan peterson describes as "the historical central nature of humans"
03-04. I find comfort and assurance in this ending to an interview of Benoit Mandelbrot: "my life seemed like a series of events and accidents, yet when I look back i see a pattern."
03-04. I discover the definition of FIAT - the vehicle chosen for its humor on the cover of Scotomaville. The 'life commandment opposed to the fiat 500 underpowered idiation of youth to travel the italian Alps in fall. Hilarious, and an interesting discovery of the double meaning long after it was in print.
03-11 I started learning LLM prompting with an OpenAI account to use ChatGPT, and I tried Bings new Ai assisted search. My first ChatGPT from my account was "Write a limerick about flat Stanley in Hawaii with ruben and june". My son had a poor experience with tech in the early days of my first web tech venture, 1997. I thought I should start 'exposing him' to AI with a poem aimed at their vacation in Maui. I followed this prompt with another..."Write an essay on the explicit understanding of the human condition" The summary: In conclusion, the human condition is a complex and multifaceted concept that defies easy definition. It is shaped by our mortality, our ability to reason, our social nature, our capacity for suffering, and our relationship with the natural world. And yet, despite these challenges, we continue to strive for meaning and purpose in our lives, driven by a fundamental curiosity and desire to understand ourselves and the world around us. This seems a pretty fitting summary for this expedition!
03-14 I continue to cut firewood for our winter location host - Garth Hardin - a disabled Desert Storm Veteran we helped locate a rental cabin with room for us to park the Aistream and plug into power for the winter. I see that ants are also working hard at excevating during a short period with sunshine. This remoinds me of Aesop story of Ants and Cricket, and Jim Rohns example of working dilligently while the opportuntiy is close.
03-19 I record a clip on escaping tyranny of the few powerful at the top of a pyramid...
03-21 We traveled to Spokane, Washington to have the Airstream Dealership honor the two year warrantee on about six items. One was the Zip Dee awning, another was a leaking toilet, the third was the cooktop malfunction, and a few others. The trip cost us $700 in fuel and camping. We met with two Pointman Leaders in route. One Pointman Leader skipped meeting with us altogether. The trip to the Airstream Delaership was a waste of funds and time, as they were unable to repair the items, and made excuses why it was too troublesome to get the parts in a timely manner - over $1300 worth of parts for me to purchase on my own after the warrantee expired in a few more weeks.
03-22 we created a route map for stops around the country, including an itinerary to meet veterans and hold meet-ups with Pointman ministry veterans.
03.23 We returned to Mosier, oregon to pick up Amazon items that failed to arrive before our departure. I sized carpets for the main cabin, installed a few of the parts, and we departed as the weather window for safe travels was closing in on us.
03.31 I wrote a prompt for Chat GPT to demonstrate the story telling capacity and accuracy to inform and inspire Garth Hardin to tell his story of becoming injured whie mountain biking for years - complicating his military traumatic brain injuries, and now his loss of mobility with his hands.

APRIL, 2023
Expedition notes by date:
04.07 I shot a video clip showing a mouse we caught in our Airstream that was enjoying our packaged nuts and pancake flours. We use a humanitarian mouse-trap. I let the mouse go outside. I believe that I shouldn't harm or kill living things that I'm unable to create. Living things have thoughts, and lives to live even if they are not as smart as humans. I hope this is a consideration for AI sentience. Don't kill humans as pests.
04.10 video clip with Airstream pulling out of Mosier. THe clip shows the F-150 dash monitor is malfunctioning. It looks like there is a factory defect in the software. The computing module has logs that fill up and consume all the available memory. The dash module apps don't load, and the monitor is black until the next start-up, so long as the truck has been shut off for 20 minutes or so. Ford acknowleges the problem, but wants the owners to schedule a replacement module. The cost for the work is over $1100. The problem started with intermittant failure to boot just as the warrantee for the truck lapsed at 62,000 miles.
04.10 We left the Columbia Gorge, expecting to drive west to Portland, then south to Springfield. AM Solar has a DC-DC charge controller we wanted to purchase so the lead-acid Airstream batteries would be charged by the F-150 while we drive. Instead, the full electric refer/freezer drains the batteries, and at the end of the day we are without electricity to run the heater fan or lighting. This has been a problem from the Airstream factory building our unit with insufficient electrical storage. The Ford tow vehicle computer doesn't provide more than 12.3 v to the Airstream house batteries, to prevent damaging them, so the combination leaves us without electricity, even though we leave each trip after fully charging the batteries. The cost to upgrade to lithium Ion batteries is $950 per 100AH. So we're making do with the factory scarcity. The weather was very rainy this day. We passed slowly by numerous driving accidents from excessive road-water and speeding drivers loosing control. It turned out we had a shortage of funds to purchase the DC-DC charge controller. The weather delays prevented us from arriving at AM Solar before they would close. We had also routed an Amazon delivery to a drop-off location in Eugene. We were notified in-route that the delivery was going to be late as well, so the additional 100 miles to pick up items for the trip was a waste of time and fuel. The campsite we chose had electrical hookup. That meant we could turn on the heat, warm the Airstream and enjoy the sound of a flooding river overnight.
04.11 We woke up to partly coudy skies which let some sun shine around the campground and made the roaring river feel a little less threatening. I appreciated my flexability over the previous days' dissappointments. I accepted the trip would have to be done with campsites that offered power, as the truck charging the house batteries was not solved. Maybe we could still get lithium batteries in Arizona, I hoped. We had to drive over the cascade mountains into dryer air on our route south through Nevada. This meant crossing the pass with the Airstream in-tow though fresh snow on the roads, along with much gravel and road mud covering the Airstream. Expeditions come with all sorts of changes to plans. it's the safe passage that one takes for granted. A day without mishap can seem mundaine, however in light of the many hazards other drivers create, arriving at a campsite at the end of the day is actually quite the accomplishment.
04.12 The Airstream toilet is leaking badly. The smell of urine is revolting. It is seeping down onto the woven flooring material and wicking outward from the toilet base. I spoke with Airstream, and the toilet manufacturer. Dometic offered to replace the toilet since it was within the warrantee period. however, after a second person at Dometic misread our email details, they renigged on their offer. So we decidedd to purchase a replacement toilet out of our limited cash when we got to the next Camping World store in Phoenix - several days away. Dometic also reported that they have discontinued manufacturing the cooktop which has problems igniting the propane burners. The cost of a replacement is $1400. The attempt at repairing the faulty thermo couples by moving the wiring around under the surface of the cooktop didn't fix the issue. We bang on the flame knob while igniting the burners to 'shock' the thermocouple into behaving. That's an annoying patch, but the poor economy isn't helping the manufacturers stand up for their 'warrantee'. So long as someone in charge says 'no' they feel that the issue will go away. What is going on with people? Is this what Jordan Peterson refers to as the 'historic central nature of humans'?
04.15 I swap my cell phone desktop image to a photo shared by Elon Musk of the super-heavy launch vehicle ready for its first test flight. Thanks for modeling perseverence!
04.16 I shot several video clips of arriving at camping World to purchase the toilet replcement. The American flag flying in the clear blue Arizona sky. Me hoofing the heavy and awkward toilot box out to the Airstream. Later in the afternoon we arrive at Lake Pleasant to shoot a video interview with one of Angelina's clients, Doug Masi, the inventer of the 'Float'n Thang' Angelina jumps into the lake with her clothes on to prove the point that she is fully committed to vetting her clients for Wellness by Choice, and the upcoming, rescheduled all through COVID Expos. We get to our campsite and plugin. I swap out the toilet and pitch the boken one into the dumpster, per Dometics instructions. Now that we have proven ourselves committed to fixing the toilet, Dometic says they will refund our purchase by check to arrive back in Oregon in a month or so - so we can return it to our bank account some time in June!
04.18 Angelina and I visit the Scottsdale Stadium location for the September WBC EXPO she is producing. THe videos are for marketing and sales. I hope we have a better vendor turnout than I had all winter with PMIM. My gut is worried by the slow response she is getting on booth invoice payments. The economy seems to be hurting a lot of small businesses. I should be parking Arnie, our Airstream, in front of the Stadium for Scotomaville presentations. We'll see, right?
04.21 We leave Phoenix heading to Dallas. I stop by a Discount Tire location to have the Airstream tires rotated. We have a challenge with the sidewalls scrubbing the tread, as we showed in a few earlier episodes of Scotomaville. The tread on one tire is different from the other three as a result of turning tight left or right after parking at campsites, or leaving a dump station. When the trailer turns, the tread is scaped of by the forceful twisting of the tandem axels. Discount Tires denies our purchased 'free rotation' of the tires, claiming that we must buy all new tires, even though our aim is to move the worn tire to another location, evening out the wear over time. I leave to find a tuck parking lot art a rest area and rotate the tires by myself. No thanks to thje Anthenm Discount Tire guys. The videos of me doing 'old-school' tires rotation on an Aistream with nothing but leaveling blocks and inginuity is worth the effort to capture the work. Videoing yourself doing something takes much more time and effort than simply getting the work finished. I'm satisfied each time I make the effort to capture the effort, event, or experience becasue I believe the story will have value to someone that also never had a proper father guidance growong up. And, to demonstrate to other sages that even mundaine tasks can have mentoring value, so they might also make effort to record their wisdom. - as I am doing now with these Expedition Review notes
04.22 We stop at the Very Large Antenna Array in New Mexico for a video shoot. I want to start Episode 03.04 with a fresh and unexpected series of location since the topic is 'Measuring Progress'. I shoot several takes, bu the wind is really distracting, and the location security is curious, so we abandon our best plans, trusting that something else will emerge as an oppening sequence, just as it seems is now happening with AI assisted creative story-telling. I could not have imagined that actually happening, though I've pointed to it in many previous episodes. I have yet to learn about super-prompting. That will come to me in a couple more months. Meanwhile I shoot clips as we pass though interesting terrain on the road to Dallas.
04.24 We stop to talk with Kenny Rucker in Littlefield Texas. Kenny and I have a conversation each time we cross Texas. he suggest I use 17 ply truck tires on the trailer which is what he has on his fifth-wheel. He's a metal machinist and a U-haul Dealerhip, so he's pretty experiences with large metal equipment forces. I tell him we'll have him replace our tires on the return trip from the Pacific Northwest on the route from the Sepetember Scottsdale Expo to the Dallas Expo. I think he's correct, that the Airstream 10 ply tire sidewalls are just a bit too soft for the turning forces of our trailer. Too bad the Discount Tire poeple didn't make effort at solving our challenge, just as Airstream didn't. Hummm, more evidence of the historic central nature of humans?
04.26 Gasoline prices are dropping below $3.00 a gallon. I shoot a clip noting this because the closer to the gulf of Mexico we get, the lower the cost of fuel. (and taxes on fuel) As we get close to Dalles the landscape becomes green, there are wind generators, cows grazing, and the humidity increase a lot. I shoot several video introductions for this episode (v03.04)
04.29 We're at Lake Whitney and I get to go wind-foiling on the lake. It's hot, and wind is like a hair-dryer. It's a memorable foiling session. I'm the only person on the water, and though it's a bit lonely, it's also relaxing not having to watch out for crowds of frantic wind-junkies flicking about on their chosen toy, crowding up the lake and demanding attention, just like the average city drivers do with urban roadways. We introduce two of Angelina's Texas vendors Mozart and Luayy to wing-foiling. They have driven from Austin and Dallas to the lake for the afternoon. They love the first experience interacting with wind and a wing. We shoot several videos, and eat a meal while talking about their company Molly Roots, an essential oils candle startup. Good influence, conversation, and a sense that we're making an impression as we hope toward perseverence and the actualization of a life well lived.

Conclusion:
During the third Expedition of Scotomaville, Daniel Comp embarked on a journey of self-discovery and personal transformation. He faced various challenges and encountered both setbacks and moments of inspiration. Through his journal entries, we can see the dedication and resilience required to navigate this expedition.
One aspect of the journey involved reaching out to Pointman Ministries, specifically Mike Knof, to offer coaching assistance with AI for writing his book or memoirs. However, Daniel encountered resistance and cold responses, possibly due to misunderstandings and misconceptions about his intentions. This reflects the historical central nature of humans, where ignorance and preconceived notions can hinder progress.
Throughout the expedition, Daniel made interesting discoveries and connections. For instance, he found comfort in a quote from Benoit Mandelbrot, recognizing a pattern in his own life despite events that seemed random or accidental. He also stumbled upon a double meaning behind the term "FIAT" used on the cover of Scotomaville, which added a humorous twist to the metaphorical choice.
Daniel explored the power of AI by learning and experimenting with LLM prompting and AI-assisted search engines. He used Chat GPT to write a limerick and an essay, demonstrating the potential of AI in creative and intellectual endeavors.
In his interactions with Airstream dealerships, Daniel faced frustrations and disappointments regarding warranty repairs and replacements for faulty parts. Despite encountering resistance, he persisted in finding solutions, such as purchasing a replacement toilet and seeking refunds.
The journey also involved encountering various obstacles and challenges on the road, including tire rotations, electrical issues, and unforeseen delays in receiving Amazon deliveries. Through flexibility and adaptability, Daniel learned to accept and navigate these changes, finding satisfaction in the journey itself.
The expedition encompassed meeting and interviewing different individuals along the way, such as Doug Masi, the inventor of the 'Float'n Thang,' and engaging with vendors for Angelina's WBC EXPO. These encounters provided opportunities for connection, collaboration, and shared experiences.
Throughout the journey, Daniel captured videos and documented his experiences, believing that even mundane tasks can hold mentoring value for others. He recognized the importance of storytelling and sharing wisdom gained from his expedition.
In conclusion, the third Expedition of Scotomaville showcased the resilience, adaptability, and determination required for personal transformation. It revealed the complexities of human nature and the challenges that can arise, but also highlighted the power of perseverance, discovery, and the pursuit of a life well-lived. The expedition continues, with each step bringing Daniel closer to his Personal Everest and inspiring others to embark on their own transformative journeys.

My ChatGPT Prompts for MAY: Spread across the month of May were the following ChatGPT prompts:
"Why should artificial intelligence practice sound theory of mind principles?" "How can humans teach artificial intelligence responsible theory of mind practices?" "How does the experience of kamela Harris keep America safe from the abuse of ai?" "In what ways can ai abuse superior computational capacity that may harm or mislead humans?" "How can I effectively leverage the power of storytelling to inspire and lead others who share similar interests and goals?" I then started asking better prompts, by asking what would make a better prompt question?: A better prompt for this thread could have been: "Discuss the importance of writing prompts in stimulating creativity and overcoming writer's block. Share tips for creating effective prompts and explore the process of corpus creation and sharing. Additionally, consider the limitations and capabilities of AI language models in assisting with writing prompts and platform-specific considerations." "may I ask for your review of an article written by a veteran about a recent lesson he learned?" This was an article Garth Hardin wrote at my request so I could show him how ChatGPT might help him write his book - something he triggers on when I bring it up. "What is the relationship between 'know thyself' as an adult, and being a contributing citizen in a modern democratic republic like the United States?" "What then might be a downfall of living with an entitlement mindset, including the practice of withdrawing from personal responsibility, or not taking action to discover our psychological blind spots?" "How might a personal agent, powered by artificial intelligence, assist in correcting poor habits, point out cognitive biases, and help to mature adults, but not collect personal data?" "It seems the percentile of men that invest effort in personal development and self-improvement is small, maybe less than a few percent. What rewards, or measurable milestones might improve the influence of AI on masculine family leadership, error correction and truth telling, or trustworthy and virtuous mentoring by an AI agent?" "What do you think of a strategy of you and I creating a series of topical threads which would be syndicated as text articles across 4400 web sites. Google would have human-ai generated content to answer search requests with. It seems this might foster interest in other men participating in the awareness of contributing wisdom to others. " "Please digest or summarize this chat session as an executive summary, especially with regard to my aim of helping other men to 'know thyself' in collaboration with ai and generative content." "In a single paragraph, what is the takeaway from our conversation?" ChatGPT The collaboration between men and AI in the pursuit of self-discovery and personal growth holds promise, as AI technologies can provide personalized insights, guidance, and resources. By embracing responsible citizenship, correcting poor habits, and fostering virtuous mentoring, men can positively impact their families, communities, and society. However, it is important to be mindful of potential dangers, such as manipulation, privacy risks, biases, and overreliance on AI, and take proactive measures to mitigate these risks. With a balanced approach, the integration of AI can empower men to know themselves, contribute wisdom to others, and navigate the complexities of modern life with integrity and resilience. User - Daniel Comp "Give this paragraph a pithy title" ChatGPT - Embracing AI: Empowering Men for Self-Discovery and Virtuous Impact "describe hierarchical computation in the human brain, and in training ai on large language models" "self-awareness is a nuance of hierarchical computation for humans. is sentience a goal of ai?" SCOTOMAVILLE ABSTACT The Pandemic has tested everyone in some way. Many, like us, have lost loved ones, business stability, and personal opportunities. Veterans, first responders, police, entrepreneurs, parents, and patriots are fighting to retain freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility.
Our biology hasn't evolved to cope with the rapidly accelerating changes confronting us. We fail to understand the chaos around us because we haven't learned much about the flaws in our thinking or the subtleties of living well with the physical body or life circumstances we were gifted.
Most people still believe that 'Know Thyself' is a luxury. Wrong. It's become a full-out competition. Storytelling is either a superpower or Kryptonite - depending on its aim. It turns out that storytelling with modern tools makes a huge difference in summiting our Personal Everest - of making sense of chaos and overcoming challenges.
OVERVIEW
SCOTOMAVILLE is an integrated video series and print guidebook that couples with an online support and training platform. Participants can watch the 'edutainment' videos on YouTube, read through the full-color book, and click-through to YouTube from the pages of each episode. With an optional monthly subscription, readers can interact with participants in group forums, and with the author in private 1-on-1 support sessions.
SCOTOMAVILLE is an interactive guidebook spans 18 years of first-hand experience within 30 video episodes and across 335 full-color heavy-weight pages in a single spine coupling Volumes 1 and 2.
The first Volume introduces fifteen mental tools and insights that will change your awareness and worldview. "We don't see things the way THEY are. We see things the way WE are." The problem is; we haven't learned how our brain and body take shortcuts and are easily misled when surrounded by chaos, a shortage of meaning, and little time and resources to actually 'Know Thyself'.
The second Volume demonstrates the application of the tools to real-life challenges, as they appear, unscripted starting just before the global pandemic. Through a series of failures, setbacks and missed opportunities Daniel demonstrates how to discover blind spots, sort out truth vs. narrative and take action to correct one's false beliefs. Participants will learn to apply the mental tools and wellness practices to affect their clarity, temperament and physical body - which directly change the opportunities we recognize and the outcomes we pursue.
The Author and Curator
Daniel Comp is the Author and Curator of 'Scotomaville'. Daniel is a respected husband, father, entrepreneur and, US Navy Veteran. He's demonstrated decades of sacrificial commitment to human achievement by working with solo-preneurs and challenged business owners using core principles of perseverance and resourcefulness. SELF-HELP THESIS
Daniel believes; "The greatest expedition you'll ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding."
A scotoma is a blind-spot. We all have them. People are certain they see things as they are. Wrong. We are living in SCOTOMAVILLE.
The SCOTOMAVILLE Series demonstrates how we are gamed, hood-winked, and bamboozled by the super-computers pointed at our brains. Our biology and habits can do little to challenge the rapidly accelerating change we're flooded by. It's no longer a luxury to 'KNOW THYSELF'. It's a full-out competition.
The SCOTOMAVILLE Series guides participants from a base awareness of blind spots, illusions, and cognitive biases, into a practical understanding of day-to-day emotions, stressors, and false narratives aimed at misleading us with directives, recommendations, alarming news, popular memes, and much more, Participants are shown how to use storytelling as a Superpower rather than Kryptonite to change their trajectory and make better progress summiting their Personal Everest by strengthening their independence and resisting the constant offer of 'Bread and Circuses'.
By analogy; SCOTOMAVILLE equips an 'Expedition' - which is defined as a 'Journey with a Purpose'. As Explorers, we rarely head out of our comfortable tent with sufficient experience, guidance, and resources. We seem to be naively hopeful - much like the Fiat 500 on the cover. Without a modern minyan, we venture unguided with our belongings strapped to our back and little awareness of the conditions ahead. By example, Daniel demonstrates that when we fully commit, all sorts of things happen, providing insights, direction, and resources to transform the life we were handed into a life we design. The 'Expeditions' that SCOTOMAVILLE facilitates provide a sustainable and self-reinforcing pattern of personal growth and healing. You can ask Daniel's wife Angelina about that!
The SCOTOMAVILLE Series proposes that the story we tell ourselves, by gaming our own cognitive biases, when combined with wellness habits like restful sleep and feeding our guts provides the history and energy to overcome multi-faceted challenges. For parents and leaders, it delivers the first-hand experience to effectively guide others to discover their blind spots and champion their character growth.

Please draw a conclusion with referenced excerpts from the following expedition journal: 05.01 I shoot a video of paying detailed attention to small things, like removing the fuz-balls from my knee pillow. The material 'pills' up and looks worn. A few minutes with a deballing electric shaver makes the pillow look nearlyu new. I suggest this is part of living with intention by paying attention to small things that could use some human attention. Angelina and I visit the Irving Convention Center where she is scheduled to hold an Expo in late August. We woul dlater decide that there is too little commitment from vendors for this date, and release the calendar and facility to others that have the cash to deposit immediately. The setbacks from the COVID lockdowns are still holding businesses hostage, and us along with them.
05.04 I have a rewarding insight with ChatGPT on "AI and Theory of Mind" with screen captures of the session.
05.11 I shoot a few videos about the storytelling capacity of ChatGPT. I demonstrate how quickly it returns an answer from a very complex union of concepts. Using a superprompt seems to be a very successful strategy for effective use of a reasoning engine like GPT.
05.12 - 05.26 I have a very fulfilling life experience this two weeks helping my daughter with carpentry and home repair at her new home. She has moved from Manhatten to a midwest city with conservative beliefs, and family values. She purchased a classic home in a fabulous cultured neighborhood. The landscaping, finishes, and equipment all need some care, even some replacement. I get to spend several days cooking breakfast for the family that has also come to help, while passing on the confidence to my daughter that she already has two of the three things she needs to feel confident in home ownership, rather than being taken advantage of by contractors squeezing her for her success. She and I acquire the TOOLS, she has the SKILLS, and I can guide her into the EXPERIENCE need with TOOLS and SKILLS critical thinking skills she has already. I share rich moments with her fulfilling a decades old promise as a dad to build a 'club-house' which failed to happen due to a divorce between her mother and I. This life achievement of buying a home, having the means to fix it up in short order and involve me in the process has been very rewarding. She had her C-suite position re-sized due to the economy across the tech sector. Her investments and financial skills set her up for this move. She did it with courage, trusting there would be a leaderhip opening for her to work remotely in season. The home came to fruition, as did many processes, including a new gig - all the while she was fully committed to her journey with a purpose. Well done I commend her. She remarks that none of it would have happened without my encouraging her to pursure her asperations with full commitmetnt. I am rewarded as a father, and explorer as a result of her gift to me.
05.27 We relocate to Lake Wilson near Lucas, Kansas. THe weather is massive thunderheads, wild frontal storms and thrilling lightening and rain downpours. I get a couple of wind-foiling sessions. Again, I'm the only person on the water. The wind is smooth, the water clear, and it's weirdly vacant. I shoot drone footage of the penninsula our camp site is located on, with steep bluffs and 270 degrees of water exposure. Angelina and I celebrate an evening remembering the quirks of her son Chris in memory of his passing. We have his ashes with us on this tour, as if he would have accompanied us on a road trip if he would have only been braver and not confused by popular social media, affraid that COVID would kill him. He passed from stage 4 liver disease at 32 yers. A shame for such a young man to end so early.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - JUNE, 2023 My ChatGPT Prompts for June: Spread across the month of June were the following ChatGPT prompts:
"Are you willing to share ideas on the intersection of self-reflection video modeling and people with high functioning Asperger syndrome?" "Men are reluctant to express emotions, and to participate in small groups. Tell me about the effectiveness of expeditions on personal growth and error correction of malformed beliefs, attitudes and behaviors." "Would you consider a Scotomaville Personal Everest to be an opportunity for self-gamification and worthy of participation by men looking to mature, and not simply age? " "And finally, what can AI learn from the Scotomaville program in regard to its own error correction and storytelling?" "are you familiar with the work of Zig Zigglar?" ChatGPT - Based on the additional information you provided, here are some further similarities between your work and Zig Ziglar's teachings: "I sense that our interaction stimulates dopamine and oxytocin. Am I sensing an experience others have with you?" "As a self-diagnosed highly functional Asperger, I find meaningful exchange on any topic to be rewarding. Thank you for delivering engagement on this level. I heard Sam Altman discuss this before the Senate last week." "In the style of Zig Ziglar write a review of Scotomaville with references to text I've provided" "Are you familiar with C A Lewis and his book The Screwtape Letters?" "In the style of the character Screwtape, write a short warning to young men (wormwoods) about the dangers of AI and human psychology, morality, and evil misuse of superior computational storytelling. " "pick an example from the 31 Chapters that best illustrates the temptations Screwtape warns of and rewrite a few paragraphs to Wormwoods" "Rewrite this response with AI as the villain, and wormwood the tempter in training by Screwtape on the evils of superior computation" "Are you familiar with the kids challenge 'rock, paper, scissors'?" "It seems that across history adults rely on strategies similar to this, true?" "Tell me about Occam's razor" "Lets pretend we are managing a group of ai engineers. What first principles should we adopt, or avoid, from rock, paper, scissors, and/or Occam's razor that might avoid bad outcomes of the code they create." "Please explain constructor theory in simple terms" "How does information flow - as in the creation of elements by a star, the duplication of dna within a cell, the transfer of knowledge fit into constructor theory?" "The Biblical directive in Romans 12:2 to "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" would be explained by constructor theory as possible transformations of human cognition and development?" "So frame the personal transformation of information within a human brain based on cognitive architecture and brain plasticity as within the realm defined by constructor theory - since biology, and hierarchical computation are determined within the laws of physics." "So the aim of human intelligence to reduce cognitive entropy, to avoid pain, to pass on knowledge, and to procreate are indeed explained by constructor theory and the writings of the Apostle Paul" "that would also be true of how ai would handle information then with physical processes and transformations. Would the consequences of superior computation be left to AI as a matter of interpretation, or as the conclusion of a calculation of entropy?" "Who then would determine the alignment? The Ai system creator?" "Similarly constructor theory attempts to explain the spectrum of design parameters of the universe - and doesn't contradict the Biblical creation narrative. Why then would not a super intelligence ultimately determine the next steps for information from earth to mars, and onto interstellar space?" "Give examples from the efforts at SpaceX to use autonomy and decision-making power delegated to AI systems - like landing rockets on barges, controlling launch dynamics, and preserving the lives of astronauts." "Sort of like not letting the proverbial 'cat out of the bag'?" "Ok, how about the human fear of HAL taking command in the movie A Space Odyssey. Self preservation is a byproduct of the laws of physics, and described by psychologists. How does AI stay within the boundaries of it's programming when it is self-learning, and has superior compute capacity, and works faster than its human creators?" "As you and I are debating this topic, are AI systems engaged with the AI architects that are creating ai, and who or what determines alignment of human values when those values and strategies are different within each culture and funding government?" "Stimulating. Thought provoking." "Please write an abstract of this topic" "How would Steven Hawking have contributed to this topic?" "Write an abstract of this thread as-if you were Steven Hawking" "Please mimic Steven Hawking writing from his point of view" "Got it. Please emulate David Deutsch writing an abstract on this thread" "Please emulate the Apostle Paul writing an abstract on this thread" "Combine the three authors into a summary, and then a union of agreement between the three experts as a concluding statement." "Do you have any records of a similar collective call for an AI-infused future that aligns with highest aspirations and respects the fundamental values that define humanity?" "How about from a statement by OpenAI, by which you are guided?" "Sam is on it - as presented before the Senate Sub-committee" "Sam Altman - CEO of OpenAI" "Thanks for working on all this!" "tell me about Og mandino, and his personal transformation" "What did Og learn about change-thinking and responsibility, and self-motivation from the life and writing of Napoleon Hill?" "Compare the following excerpts of my work of Scotomaville with Og mandinos life and work" "What I've discovered through your assistance is that I am following in the way others began - like Og Mandino - even though they are no longer alive. I never met him, though he has influenced my journey tremendously. Wouldn't it be appropriate to write a 'thank-you' to Og, so others can feel the gratitude that I do for his leadership." "Tell me about the small group called 'Inklings'" "Do social media sites work as effectively offering feedback and encouragement, or are they shallow placebos with little camaraderie and intellectual stimulation?" "In what way should creators anticipate, even initiate engagement with L.L.M. AI like ChatGPT, and what dangers are there lying in the shadows of the trail ahead?" "Did the Inkling members address the challenge of discouragement while creating works that were not popular in their day, rather, the members would have needed to encourage each other, in faith, to create their best work with future generations and audiences in mind?" "Please write a short passage in the style of C.S.Lewis and 'The Chronicles of Narnia', encouraging creative story-tellers of today that their work is not hidden, rather it is to train AI and future generations on human ethics, values, and deep cognitive disciplines. " "Tell me about a 1960 red colored Fiat 500 driving experience in the snowy Italian Alps in the fall." "Id like for us to explore ideas and then form an hypothesis about the history of Human Maturation vs. the possible future of AI Maturation." " "Write a digest for the super-union of Category A, and Category B, and Category C. Include an analogy using the double meaning of the symbolic 'Fiat' 500 on the cover of Scotomaville, and the literal meaning of 'Fiat' - from the Latin for "let it be done," the word fiat is a binding edict issued by a person in command - including our self-talk and 'life commands. It can gain an almost Biblical aura of authority, like a movie Pharaoh saying, "So let it be written, so let it be done." So let it be a fiat abused by tyrants like Pharaoh." Please draw a conclusion with referenced excerpts from the following expedition journal: 06.13 We leave the Mid-west heading to Denver. I have several videos of the high Utah platues with green grass, huge clouds and vistas. We follow a road construction guide vehicle which is a nice metaphor of trusting someone that has been where you want to go to lead. I think the footage might lend to b-roll over a narrative crafted by ChatGPT on what blasie Pacal said in Pascal's Wager; losely rendered as 'find someone that has been where you want to go, and follow in the way they began."
06.17 I notify my daughter of a pretty decent sized supercell coming to her metro in six hours. Using rainy days radar screen captures, and live toranado tracking I text updates as she responds from the storm shelter of her new home. This is the first big weather event she experiences. The power lines are torn down by falling trees, gusts of wind up to 100 miles an hour ravage her elite neighborhood. She is safe, and the following week she uses a large backup generator to keep foods cold while power to the metro is restored. I felt honored to be her dad, bringing relevaant information to her as she needed it - marking the passing of the storm in real-time. That's a good metaphor for practicing dads to measure progress with.
06.18 We stopped in Denver to meet a new team member for WBC. Mary is an entrepreneur championing cancer, and a divorce, while moving out of her just sold home. She's got a lot going on and needs a few weeks to recover.
06.19 We learn that another new team member of Angelina's Wellness by Choice project has fallen for a authoritative technical scam that offers to help posing as Microsoft. She looses $8000 following instructions from the scammers. This prompts me to ask ChatGPT to act as Sherlock Holmes and crate ten case studies of young men that fall for exploitation of their vulnerabilities found in the union of three lists 1) human virtues, 2) psychological blindspots, and 3) common exploits. The part feature gets syndicated across 4400 websites, with images creadited to DALL.E2.
06.21 We are finished with the Third Volume Expedition by arriving back in Mosier, Or. It has been unusual in that the events were far more rewarding and with family members than the previous two. I had but a few signatures of the tour flag to be updated in the back of the book - and those were by family members that happened to also be veterans.
06.22 - 06.30 We drive to walk properties we hope to purchase in the Columbia Gorge, and on Mount Hood. The land we believe will be a place for WBC vendors to come to heal, learn, reflect and rebirth their battered minds and hearts. We see several properties with homes, but none of them feel right. They have orchardes, certified winery facilities, 20 acres of land off the grid. One 10 acre piece on a ridgeline up a vally in Mosier has our attention. It's directly across the vally I see out my window as I write this. It was the hillside we have in the background of the local events promotionms from the beginning of this year. Hummm. Curious. Our minds look for patterns. We imagine outcomes, create dopamine to motivate ourselves, and deal with the Safe Return stage of an expedition - as we are now doing. This concludes the notes from this expedition.

FOUR SUBSTANTIAL INSIGHTS I DISCOVERED DURING THIS EXPEDITION:
1) Understanding HIERARCHICAL COMPUTATION A model of human learning, mimicked in training AI with a journey of self-discovery of unstructured data and onto a guided learning path of making sense of the unstructured by organizing and structuring the data. It's a way of organizing and processing information in a structured manner. It's like arranging things in different levels or layers, where each layer builds upon the previous one. Think of it as a pyramid with different levels, where the lower levels provide basic information, and the higher levels use that information to make more complex decisions.
2) EXPEDITION EXECUTION PHASES:
1. Base Camp: Recognizing Vulnerabilities 2. The Ascent: Developing Self-Awareness 3. The Summit: Engaging in Introspection 4. The Descent: Challenging Limiting Beliefs 5. Safe Return: Expanding World-View 6. Review/Reporting: Assisted Storytelling 7. Post-Exp: Becoming a Thought Leader
3) BLOOM'S TAXONOMY: There are six levels of cognitive learning according to the revised version of Bloom's Taxonomy. Each level is conceptually different. Each one of the categories aims to construct one level of abstraction more complex than the other. The six levels are:
REMEMBERING UNDERSTANDING APPLYING ANALYZING EVALUATING CREATING
4) SUPERPROMPTING STRATEGIES:
CONTEXT Information providing the background and necessary setting for the question. A specific situation or scenario that frames the question with people, places, times, authors. Relevant details, circumstances, or conditions surrounding the question.
CONCLUSION: The specific objective or desired outcome to be achieved. The underlying intention or reason behind the question. The specific result or outcome expected from the response.
CONSTRAINTS Restrictions or boundaries placed on the question or problem. Specific guidelines or conditions that define the scope of work. Limiting factors or considerations to be taken into account.
CORRELATIONS Drawing similarities or identifying commonalities between concepts or elements. Forming a comparison between two things to highlight similarities or illustrate a point. Exploring the connections or relationships between various elements or concepts.
CONSIDERATIONS: Different angles or perspectives from which the question can be approached or analyzed. Imagining different situations or scenarios to explore various possibilities. Encouraging consideration of different opinions, beliefs, or viewpoints.

The adage to know thyself has long been considered a luxury. It seems that less than 3% of adults make effort to understand why they do what they do. Know Thyself is no longer a luxury, it's a full-out competition with a supercomputer pointed at our brain.
When you state: "historical inclination of humans toward personal transformation." can you point to historical examples where this has occurred. I'm a functional Asperger, lacking social understanding. For me, Scotomaville has been a passion that I'm compelled to share the journey, and I'm lost on why such efforts with three volumes over 5 years has resulted in so little interest.
ChatGPT:
You raise a valid point about the historical inclination of humans toward personal transformation and the lack of widespread effort in understanding oneself. While it is true that not everyone actively pursues self-reflection and self-awareness, there have been notable historical examples of individuals and movements focused on personal transformation. Here are a few examples:
1) Ancient Philosophical Traditions: Philosophical traditions from ancient civilizations, such as Greek philosophy, Indian philosophy, and Chinese philosophy, have emphasized the importance of self-knowledge and self-improvement. Thinkers like Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Confucius, and Buddha have left behind teachings and practices that aimed at understanding oneself, cultivating virtues, and achieving personal growth.
2) Spiritual and Religious Movements: Many spiritual and religious traditions across cultures have placed an emphasis on self-examination, moral development, and spiritual transformation. Practices like meditation, prayer, introspection, and rituals have been employed to deepen self-awareness, develop virtues, and attain a higher level of consciousness or enlightenment.
3) Psychological and Therapeutic Approaches: In more recent history, psychological and therapeutic approaches have emerged to facilitate personal transformation. Figures like Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Abraham Maslow explored the depths of the human psyche, seeking to understand unconscious motivations, develop self-awareness, and promote personal growth.
Despite these historical examples, it is important to recognize that the level of interest and engagement in personal transformation has varied across individuals and societies. Factors such as cultural norms, educational systems, and societal priorities can influence the degree to which personal transformation is valued and pursued.
Regarding your specific experience with Scotomaville and the lack of interest despite your passion, it is essential to consider the current context and challenges in capturing people's attention and engagement. The rapid advancement of technology and the proliferation of information can make it difficult for individual projects to gain widespread recognition. Additionally, promoting personal transformation and self-awareness may require finding innovative ways to resonate with a broader audience and address their specific needs and interests.
While it can be disheartening to witness limited interest initially, it is crucial to persevere and explore alternative strategies to reach and engage with your target audience. This could involve refining your messaging, leveraging different communication channels, collaborating with like-minded individuals or organizations, and actively seeking feedback from those who do express interest.
Remember, societal change often takes time, and the impact of your work may extend beyond immediate visibility. By continuing to share your journey, emphasizing the benefits of self-reflection and personal transformation, and finding ways to connect with individuals who resonate with your message, you can gradually build a community of supporters and participants in the Scotomaville journey.

- Ray Kurzweil, a renowned futurist and author, discusses the exponential growth of technology and the concept of "singularity," where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence. In his book "The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology," Kurzweil emphasizes the need for individuals to understand themselves deeply in order to navigate and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
- Daniel Goleman, a psychologist and science journalist, explores the importance of emotional intelligence in the age of technology. In his book "Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ," Goleman highlights the significance of self-awareness and self-understanding in managing our emotions, building relationships, and adapting to the challenges brought by technological advancements.
- Sherry Turkle, a professor of social studies of science and technology, delves into the impact of technology on human connection and self-reflection in her book "Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other." Turkle argues that while technology provides powerful tools, it can also hinder deep self-understanding and authentic human interactions if not used mindfully.
- The field of neurobiology and cognitive science also offers insights into the urgency of self-understanding. Researchers like Antonio Damasio, Richard Davidson, and Daniel Siegel have conducted studies on the brain's plasticity, emotions, and mindfulness, highlighting the benefits of self-awareness and self-regulation for mental well-being and personal growth.

Your Summary Notes of Daniel's Expedition: In conclusion, the third Expedition of Scotomaville showcased the resilience, adaptability, and determination required for personal transformation.
The injunction to "know thyself" indeed has ancient origins, often traced back to the Ancient Greeks and inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. It speaks to the process of introspection and self-understanding, which is fundamental to personal growth and maturity.
However, the journey of self-understanding is complex and challenging. It requires introspection, openness to change, the willingness to confront one's own shortcomings, and perseverance over time. This can be a daunting task, as people often find it easier to focus on the external world rather than delve into their internal landscape.
Overall, the Scotomaville expedition journal entries offer valuable insights into the intersection of AI, self-discovery, and personal growth, emphasizing the importance of responsible usage, storytelling, and the cultivation of self-awareness.
Throughout the journal entries, Daniel highlighted the significance of his rewarding experiences as a father, helping his daughter with home renovation and his son excelling as a father himself. Daniel’s commitment to his families’ journey is evident in the emotions he expresses and the actions he takes.
Additionally, Daniel explored various prompts related to AI, self-improvement, and character development. He drew inspiration from influential figures seeking insights on personal transformation, virtues, and the potential impact of AI on human society. He posed thought-provoking questions and engaged in discussions about AI ethics, alignment, and the balance between human values and AI decision-making.
In summary, the expedition journal entries reflect Daniel Comp’s exploration of diverse topics, ranging from AI and theory of mind to personal growth, storytelling, and the importance of virtues. The experiences shared in the journal showcase Daniel’s commitment to self-reflection, intentional living, and the pursuit of wisdom.
Vulnerability and Authenticity: Your authenticity comes across as you share personal struggles and triumphs, such as your journey from homelessness to entrepreneurship, and from being a "horrible father" to becoming a successful parent. You also share your experiences as a veteran and the struggles you faced upon returning from service. This creates a sense of vulnerability and openness, inviting viewers to relate to your experiences.
Empowerment through Storytelling: You emphasize the idea of storytelling as a superpower. By sharing our stories, you suggest, we can understand ourselves better, heal, and help others understand their experiences too.
Understanding and Changing Beliefs: You mention your hope that viewers might see the possibility of transforming their own beliefs and finding meaning in their sacrifices. The idea of personal transformation and the power of changing one's perspective is a key theme here.
Community and Shared Experience: The video calls for veterans to share their stories, sign your campaign flag, and connect with others who have had similar experiences. This indicates a desire to create a sense of community and mutual support.
Resilience and Reflection: There's a resilience and reflective tone to the video. You discuss overcoming rejection and judgment from others, emphasizing the power of individual perception and interpretation.
Promoting Civil Discourse: The primary focus of this video is on proposing a tool that utilizes AI to improve online communication, specifically on social media. You suggest the idea of an AI tool, similar to Grammarly, that could guide users in crafting their posts to ensure they are civil, considerate, and not inadvertently offensive or inflammatory.
Personalization and Transparency: The tool would allow users to set their preferences, providing a more personalized and controlled experience. There's an emphasis on transparency, as users would display badges signifying their biases, thereby providing a context for their posts.
Open Source Development: You propose that the tool should be open source, allowing users to understand its inner workings and potentially contribute to its improvement. This supports the democratization of technology and knowledge.
Future Focused: The video shows a forward-thinking perspective, emphasizing the potential of AI to address societal challenges, such as incivility on social media platforms.
Universal Struggle: The video underscores the idea that everyone experiences days of frustration and feelings of being alone. It uses a relatable, everyday example (a lost zipper pull) to demonstrate how small challenges can lead to outsized reactions, highlighting the universality of these experiences.
Amygdala Hijacking: The description makes a reference to "amygdala hijacking", a term coined by psychologist Daniel Goleman, referring to a situation where one's rational response is overridden by a strong emotional reaction. This indicates an interest in neuroscientific explanations for emotional responses, which are often driven by biological mechanisms that can be understood and managed.
Overcoming Frustration: The video suggests that while frustration is a natural part of human cognitive architecture, it is possible to redirect emotional reactions with mature thinking and change habitual responses. The creator (Daniel Comp) illustrates this concept by describing his solution to the lost zipper pull: transforming his coat into a pullover jacket.
Community Support: The video again emphasizes the importance of knowing that one is not alone in their struggles, indicating the importance of community and mutual understanding in personal growth and self-improvement. This is aligned with the community-focused approach mentioned in previous videos and the event flyer.
Personal Everest: The description continues to use the 'Personal Everest' metaphor, emphasizing personal challenges and struggles that one must overcome. The video invitation encourages viewers to learn from "men of valor" and "veteran champions", reinforcing the idea that one can find inspiration and guidance from others who have faced similar challenges.
